ASIMO just wants to conduct...in Detroit

Asimo, still trying to win back and impress former flame Amanda Bynes,
takes a hiatus from Tomorrowland:

Robot maestro Asimo conducts Detroit orchestra

High art met high tech as Asimo the robot conducted the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's performance of "Impossible Dream"

Asimo the robot was a commanding presence on stage as it made its conducting debut -
despite being little over four feet tall

Quote:
It was unusual that the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s conductor last night opted for some form of white spacesuit rather than black tie.

But then, it was also extraordinary that the conductor in question was a 4’3” robot called Asimo.

The lights dimmed and the audience fell into a suitably reverent hush as the diminutive - and shiny - maestro walked onto the stage at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall.

Asimo, perhaps unused to the rarified atmosphere of concert halls, was un-awed.

“Hello everyone!” it chirped, waving at the rows in front of him before an engineer silently and wirelessly sent a trigger for the show to begin.

Asimo, whose name stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility, lifted his arms for the downbeat.

The orchestra began, performing Mitch Leigh’s “Impossible Dream” from the musical “Man of La Mancha”, as the humanoid robot gave a lifelike performance of a conductor.

It nodded its head, gestured with its hands and even, according to one critic, “slowed down for the big finish, shifting into 6/8 time and ending with a dramatic held note. Bravo!”

Asimo then took a bow as the audience applauded enthusiastically.
“It is absolutely thrilling to perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra,” it said, playing to the crowd. “This is a magnificent concert hall.”

He's a robot, she's in Robots. A match made by Honda.
