Same here. I tried not to miss At the movies on Sunday evenings. I always enjoyed what Roeper had to say even though I probably didn't agree with him half the time.

Last Sunday it wasn't two thumbs up, it was see it or skip it.

Al and I were just discussing the likelihood of this the other day. However, it is still very sad to hear about the passing of a show which was quite influential in its day.

Re: Ebert and Roeper exit the balcony

I enjoyed watching Siskel and Ebert for a long time but then when Siskel gave away the twist for the Crying Game I had to boycott the show for a while, now I'm sad that I did because it seemed just when I started watching again he got sick and died. I have never warmed to any of the other hosts working with Roger. Maybe two brand new critics will get me back in the groove of two thumbs up.

Re: Ebert and Roeper exit the balcony

I miss SISKEL and Ebert. Those days were over when Gene Siskel died. And, now, it seems fitting that Ebert is ending his run. He's in poor health. I hate when things like this end. The end of an era.

Quote:
BURBANK, Calif., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Television's most popular and respected movie review program, "At the Movies," will debut its 23rd season in national syndication the weekend of September 6, 2008. As previously announced, Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz will co-host the next generation of the series, and the show will also be adding several new segments.

"At the Movies" will continue its signature "cross-talk" reviews where the co-hosts debate the latest motion picture and DVD releases with the "see it," "skip it," or "rent it" ratings system. Other exciting changes include the addition of the "Critics RoundUp" segment, which will feature the co-hosts in lively discussions with other well-respected critics via satellite from cities across the country. Also in the new "3 to See" segment, the co-hosts recommend their top three "must sees" of the weekend.

On the season opener, Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz will review: "Burn After Reading," starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt; "Babylon A.D.," starring Vin Diesel; "Traitor" with Don Cheadle; and "Hamlet 2," with Steve Coogan and Catherine Keener. Joining Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz in the "Critics RoundUp" segment will be IFC's Matt Singer, ReelzChannel's Tory Shulman and the Boston Globe's Wesley Morris.
