Stunning? Hyperbole much?

(I did love the movie and will happily add it to the home video collection.)

Re: 'WALL-E' goes home 11/18

Yay for release date, but for the obvious fact that WALL-E on DVD will be sorely lacking while Blu-Ray gets 2-disc. The fact that Disney prods the true animation fans (as opposed to the kids and parents who could care less) to spend thousands of dollars on an high-def television set and a Blu-Ray player to acquire audio commentary and making-of featurettes is incredibly insidious of them. I'm in college! I won't be able to afford these things for another five years, and all I want to hear is what Andrew Stanton has to say while watching his film. The thing is, that if every studio were doing this I'd suck it up, but for some reason (other than the obvious) only Disney does it! Those money-grubbing ...

Rant over...

Granted, it's not a stunning set up by any means, but you can get yourself a pretty decently sized TV and something that can play BluRay all for about $1,000. Is that a lot of money? Sure. But I'm also in college and I have that much money waiting for me if I need it.

This movie isn't going anywhere. Just wait.

To be fair, we don't even have official confirmation that DVD owners AREN'T getting another disc.

Also, keep in mind that single disc set with slim features is cheaper than a two-disc set. I mean, if people are age are going to play the "poor college student" card, might as well stick to it...

Re: 'WALL-E' goes home 11/18

I have to agree with goldenstate. We just got a new blu ray display at work and even though it is really nice to look at, I cant see myself spending $1,000 for something that is just as good on DVD. I mean all I really need is something that can play the movie, I dont want to talk to people online during a movie. I can do that using MSN and watching the movie on my laptop. So personally I'm just going to wait till the players are $20 at Wal-Mart.

Re: 'WALL-E' goes home 11/18

I wouldn't spend the money to get a BluRay setup for just one movie, but all of the demo displays make the BluRay pictures look REALLY good. I could easily compile a list of movies worth getting one for. Most importantly, PS3s are starting to drop down pretty fast. You get one of those, not only do you have a BluRay player now, but you have a pretty decent gaming console. I don't see BluRay players and TVs coming down too incredibly fast. They might, but they don't necessarily need to. DVDs aren't exactly on their last legs yet.

Going back to the article, just for clarification, the second disc of the BluRay set ISN'T full of special features. It's just a digital copy of the movie. So there's nothing to suggest that the 1-Discers won't get the same love, assuming there is no 2 disc DVD set.

Re: 'WALL-E' goes home 11/18

Yea that is true, the dvd disks are going to get some special features, it just bothers me that ever since Pixar and Disney got together there has been a drop in the special features and the 2 disk dvd sets. Now with blu-ray you get a noticeable amount more special features than the dvds. For example on the finding nemo dvd you get a 2 disk set with 19 special features vs. the cars dvd where you get 4 special features on 1 disk. But while watching the cars blu-ray yesterday I noticed about 9 special features. So even though it’s just a small amount more of special features on blu-day, it would be just as easy to put out a 2 disk set on dvd as well for people who can't afford to buy a huge new TV and a $400 player. For me it's also the price of buying the Blu-Ray movies, they cost more. It may not seem like much more, but i've noticed it adds up

Re: 'WALL-E' goes home 11/18

The DVD will be 2-discs as well with disc 2 going to the digital copy of the movie, like how Prince Caspian's 3rd disc will be.
