The concept of "Matching" the high-end 'Lion King' to the comparatively cheesy MGM lion-theme is silly. Their poorly presented former 'Wizard of Oz' theming and failed theme park leaps to mind. They were disgraces to the once legendary studio but enough of a lure to a hotel & casino that is not up to the standards of The Mirage/Bellagio/Wynn/Mandalay Bay for example.

Yes, the Manadalay Bay Shark Reef is wonderful but it's only name asset, hardly. Having House of Blues and their beach and Events Center on-site easily gets more media and attendence. And 'Mamma Mia!' certainly hasn't hurt them either.

A not inexpensive theatre ticket on the same property with the clientele of it's THEhotel makes perfect sense. It's simply a far classier location than the home of the shiny lion.

Well, MGM does have KA. Pricy ticket and a rather solid show.

True. It was a smart move on MGM's part to spend well over $100 million to have the Cirque du Soliel brand on property. That and Emeril's are the real reasons to go there.

TOP LAS VEGAS SHOWS 2007

1. Céline Dion: A New Day…
2. Cirque du Soleil: The Beatles: LOVE at The Mirage
3. Cirque du Soleil: "O" at Bellagio
4. Elton John: The Red Piano
5. Bette Midler
6. Monty Python's Spamalot at The Wynn
7. Blue Man Group
8. David Copperfield
9. Le Rêve at The Wynn
10. Cirque du Soleil: KÀ at MGM
