Five in for '10 Things'

Cast coming together for adaptation of the feature film

ABC Family has assembled the main cast of its high school comedy pilot "10 Things I Hate About You," an adaptation of the 1999 feature that in turn was based on William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew."

Ethan Peck (grandson of Gregory Peck), Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Kyle Kaplan and Nicholas Braun have been tapped to star in the pilot, which revolves around two sisters -- strong-willed feminist Kat (Shaw) and social butterfly Bianca (Martin) -- facing the challenges of starting at a new high school.

Braun will play schoolmate Cameron, who is smitten with Bianca. Kaplan, repped by Greene & Associates and manager Michael Abrams, will play his friend Michael. Peck will play the dark and mysterious Patrick, a student who intrigues and bothers Kat from a distance.

In the movie, Kat and Patrick were played by Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger in his breakthrough performance. Michael was played by David Krumholtz.

Ok, this really depresses me.
I really dislike that they're remaking things that were amazing on their own.
Kinda like whoever is going to remake The Karate Kid and Rocky Horror Picture Show.

I actually know one of the actors from the original film. This seems kind of dumb to me! What can you add to the movie that wasn't already done?

I love the original movie, but I don't really see how it'd translate.

Isn't this a little late in the game? If they had created this show within a few years of the movie being released, I would understand. This is almost 10 years later?!?!

Me too. 10 things I hate about you was one of my favorite movies in high school. It reminds me that my 10 year reunion is next summer.

I love the movie (have it on DVD). Can't begin to fathom how this is going to translate onto the small screen.

i agree w/ everyone else, how and why would they dream of making this a TV show? the original was a retelling of taming of the shrew, but this sounds like it's going to be very far removed from shakespeare...

This is CRAZY talk!! TV has been such a great medium for new and innovative things.... why this attempt at re-doing a movie???

Aww I LOVED Heath in this movie. This was also a favorite of mine in high school (Class of 2002). My opinion is that this show will not last more than one season and if it does I'll be surprised. ABC must be very bored and fresh out of ideas.

This is.....Absolutely horrible...I'll hang myself if I see another classic turned into a TV show...and ABC Family of all the branches.

Skye-RHPS is being remade by MTV....yes I just said that, MTV.

and mark my words...there will one day be a sitcom of an Oscar winning movie!
