Go Morel Orel! It would be hilarious if this recently cancelled series won the annie.

Re: 2008 Annie Awards

Have to mention this one too:

Best Animated Home Entertainment Production
  • Batman: Gotham Knight – Warner Bros. Animation
  • Christmas Is Here Again – Easy To Dream Entertainment in association with Renegade Animation
  • Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs – The Curiosity Company in association with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
  • Justice League: The New Frontier – Warner Bros. Animation
  • The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning – DisneyToon Studios
And I have to mention two categories that I REALLY hope win:

Presto - for short, absolutely LOVE this short, the best short since Roger Rabbit's three shorts! Go figure, I'm a Disney fan that has a thing for rabbits.

Mark Walton – Voice of Rhino, from Bolt! Really, I liked the entire team of Bolt, Mittens, and Rhino. But, Rhino the bubble hamster, had that special exuberance and the right amount of eccentricity that made him a stand out vocal this year.

Re: 2008 Annie Awards

Is anyone going to it on Friday night? I won't be able to, but if you are, keep a look out for a live-action Spongebob segment. You probably won't see me on camera but I was on hand when they taped it. Let me know how it turned out!

36th Annual Annie Award Nominees and Winners (2008)

Quote:
"Kung Fu Panda" pulled out all its martial arts moves Friday night at the 36th annual Annie Awards, where it was named best animated feature.

Winning the top prize over such other nominees as the critical favorites "WALL-E" and "Waltz With Bashir," "Panda" swept the feature film categories as it picked up 10 trophies, bettering Pixar's "Ratatouille" run last year when it earned nine Annies, including best feature.

Winners in bold*

PRODUCTION CATEGORIES

Best Animated Feature
  • Bolt – Walt Disney Animation Studios
  • Kung Fu Panda – DreamWorks Animation*

Re: 2008 Annie Awards

Well, you just KNOW something is wrong when THIS happens:

Voice Acting in an Animated Television Production or Short Form
  • Ahmed Best – Voice of Jar Jar Binks – “Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II” - ShadowMachine*
  • Seth MacFarlane – Voice of Peter Griffin – Family Guy “I Dream of Jesus” – Fox TV Animation/Fuzzy Door Productions
  • Dwight Schultz – Voice of Mung Daal – Chowder “Apprentice Games” – Cartoon Network Studios
Someone voicing Jar Jar wins?????????

I'm disappointed that Presto didn't win, and neither did Rhino

Hoffman just wasn't as good as Mark Walton voicing Rhino.

Even the made for dvd movie sequel to KFP, Secrets of the Furious Five won a few awards

Re: 2008 Annie Awards

Not to completely knock KFP, it really is one of the best animated features by dreamworks, BUT it wasn't the best of 2008.

KC, you have a great point. It is sad how "political" the Annie Awards came out this year. Although it's difficult to keep that from most award shows.

One thing I HATE most about award shows are the Oscars. The last 2 seconds of EVERY year, all of sudden ALL the movies that are aniticipated to get nominations for best picture are released. And they are ALWAYS drama's, many of really aren't that great. It really gives the oscars a sense of hoitey toitey.

Re: 2008 Annie Awards

LOL, I dislike Jar Jar as much as the next guy but his performance in that Robot Chicken sketch is hands down frickin hilarious. And I think in reality, the voters knew that this could be the only time Ahmed Best wins an Annie Award... probably EVER. It's amazing what you can achieve when geeks with a sense of humor are allowed to vote.

Someone edited this up to be even more obnoxious but you get the picture.

Re: 2008 Annie Awards

Chalk me up as another one who can't believe that KFP was so good that it one nearly every categorie.

Also I think Phineas and Ferb is one of the wittiest cartoons out there. I really wish it could get due recognition.
