'The Iron Giant' 10th Anniversary event 10/23/09

THE IRON GIANT
10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

ASIFA-Hollywood will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the 1999 animated masterpiece “The Iron Giant”, with an evening with lively discussion with some of the animators and crew members on Friday, October 23, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., at the Fletcher Jones Foundation Auditorium, Woodbury University, in Burbank, California.

Among the many artists expected to attend will be writer and director Brad Bird, background artist Anne Guenther, art director Alan Bodner, lead animator Steve Markowski, and Scott Johnston who created the ToonShader software for the film. The panel will be moderated by animator Tom Sito.

“The Iron Giant is one of those rare films that flawlessly merged CG with traditional animation and represented superior storytelling,” said ASIFA-Hollywood Vice-President Tom Sito. “ASIFA-Hollywood wants to showcase the individuals who made the iconic film, and the event will be extra-special with a rare appearance by Brad Bird."

Reservations are required for this event.

Oooooooooooh!!!!

Though I have met the rare Brad Bird several times now and have 2 or 3 autographs.. I think 2. I'd like to check this out but friday night? Hmmm...

Due to the overwhelming response to the event, the program has been
moved from Woodbury University to the Stephen J. Ross Theater, on the
Warner Bros. Studio Lot, in Burbank.

does that mean there will be more tickets?

crap in a hat, if it were at WB that would be way more convenient for me. It's right off the freeway!

Yes, I'd expect some tickets to be released for availability:

I received the confirmation e-mail Monday, we all have thru 5PM today to respond. After that they'll start releasing tix that are not spoken for. Nice that WB stepped up with such a nice venue for the event so more people could attend. Good luck CB!

That was so cool. I had an administrative role at WBFA in those days. Among other things, I published the Animated Times, our feature animation in-house newsletter. Thanks OP for the tip, I reconnected with some old coworkers and had Brad autograph my vintage IG crew t shirt.

a Goofy sketch Disney Legend Floyd Norman graciously added to my sketchbook for me. He and his wife sat next to me in the center section, second row. They are so terrifc to talk to, I especially loved hearing about the fabulous time they had at the WDFM opening gala from his great wife.
