Animator/director Brad Case died March 19, 2006. He was 93.

His career spanned from 1934 until his retirement in 1999, having worked for Iwerks, Disney, MGM, Lantz, Raphael Wolff, Sutherland, Paul Fennell, Tempo, Calvin Co., Academy, ERA Prods., Hanna-Barbera, Larry Harmon, UPA, Warner Bros., Nicholson, Sanrio, DePatie-Freleng, Marvel, Graz Ent. and New World.

Born in 1912, he was an uncredited animator on Disney’s BAMBI. His first screen credit came on the 1944 Donald Duck short THE PLASTICS INVENTOR. In 1946, he worked as effects animator for the features SONG OF THE SOUTH and MAKE MINE MUSIC.

In 1961, Case made his directing debut on the animated TV series THE DICK TRACY SHOW. His other directing credits included THE PINK PANTHER AND FRIENDS (1976); BAGGY PANTS & THE NITWITS and WHAT'S NEW, MR. MAGOO? (1977); and THE ALL NEW PINK PANTHER SHOW and THE FANTASTIC FOUR (1978).

In between directing gigs, he worked as an animator on such feature films as SHINBONE ALLEY (1971) and DAFFY DUCK'S MOVIE: FANTASTIC ISLAND (1983).

Case’s story direction credits included ROMAN HOLIDAYS and JOSIE AND THE *****CATS IN OUTER SPACE in 1972 and GOOBER AND THE GHOST-CHASERS in 1973. He was a sequence director for the TV series, TRANSFORMERS (1984) and JEM and G.I. JOE (1985); as well as for the 1985 video, BIGFOOT AND THE MUSCLE MACHINES. Case was a storyboard artist for the 1971 series, HELP! IT'S THE HAIR BEAR BUNCH and THE PEBBLES AND BAMM-BAMM SHOW. He was a layout artist for the TV series, FRANKENSTEIN JR. AND THE IMPOSSIBLES (1966), BIRDMAN AND THE GALAXY TRIO (1967) and THE PEBBLES AND BAMM-BAMM SHOW (1971); in addition to the 1966 Hanna-Barbera feature film, THE MAN CALLED FLINTSTONE.

He received the Animation Guild Golden Award in 1985.

Case is survived by son Dale, an animation director and supervisor.
