Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films have acquired Game Boys, an action spec by Tom Ropelewski and Evan Katz. The Hollywood Reporter says Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.

The story revolves around two thirtysomething video game junkies recruited by the Department of Homeland Security to lead a geeky army of gamers in a battle against creatures that have come to life from a video game they have mastered.

Bruckheimer Films' Mike Stenson and Chad Oman will executive produce. Leslie Dixon (Freaky Friday) will serve as a producer in some capacity.

I think you might be better off targeting Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game..." You wanna talk about a "Franchise Film" series...

Maybe Jerry's company made Disney buy this just to annoy us all...
he's already got a video game-themed film (Prince of Persia: Sands of Time) that they're developing, could be the mid-life crisis part deux.

BTW - one of the writers is from 24 so maybe there will be alot of split-screens and a clock on screen to let us know when the commercial breaks are.
