Jonas Brothers Sign Record Deal With Disney's Hollywood Records

BURBANK, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Disney's Hollywood Records, today, announced the start of a new partnership by signing The Jonas Brothers. The Brothers made a huge splash in the music industry with the release of their debut album, "It's About Time" in August 2006.

Continuing with their creativity and well-respected reputation, The Brothers are gearing up to record their follow-up album, entitled "Jonas Brothers" due out in August 2007. This album will continue the current successes of The Brothers first album which has landed the group the number eleven song on iTunes Top Music List and three songs on Radio Disney's Top 30 Play List.

Weird... this is old news

"The Jonas Brothers have finally comfirmed that they were let go from Columbia Records a few months back… however, there’s good news. They have signed with Hollywood Records and are anticipating releasing a new album this summer (although it’d be safe to say it’s more likely to take place in the fall)."

Also, note Disney Channel premiered their video to Year 3000 on January 26th and have had it in rotation ever since. As a result sales have been through the roof for the single. Top 10 Video on iTunes, debuted at 40 on Billboards Hot 100.

The outstanding results ironically occur with the timing of Disney Channel (even thought they've had 10 months of strong support on Radio Disney). Just another example that Disney Channel is the true dominant player in the music industry (and not the orphan sibling saddled with AM Radio).

I believe they were under the impression they would never be able to get back the money they invested into the group. Some of that was Columbia's fault. They pushed back the release several time, which messed up promotional campaigns (including mail order pieces). They toured with The Veronicas which was a bust. An amazing act, but they fell off the radar just before the tour and drew crowds of less than 100 for a lot of the tour. Then the label scrapped the album had them record three new songs (including Year 3000) and eventually released it in August. In addition I can't imagine how much money they spent to get them on TRL. Yes, contrary to popular belief you don't get on that show by popular vote.

It's interesting that they got huge support by Radio Disney, including headling the Jingle Jam tour and sales remained flat.

Yes, it's a great tune. Although it's funny RD made them edit it?

The original version say 'I took a ship to the Year 3000', the edit says 'I took a trip to the Year 3000'. Hmmm... they're so concerned about hearing something the wrong way yet continue to play new music by acts like Bowling For Soup that have not one, but two labels on the CD about the language.
