Paul Candland Announced as New Managing Director of Walt Disney Company Japan

Disney announced Monday that Paul Candland is appointed as the managing director of The Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd., effective June 1, 2007. Along with his current role s head of Disney ABC International Television and Disney Channel, Candland will be responsible for the company’s local strategy development, new business initiatives, and local brand marketing in Japan.

Andy Bird, president of Walt Disney International made the announcement Monday and said, "Paul brings great expertise to his new role." "His many years of working in Japan and his knowledge and prior experience with Disney will allow us to further expand our local business and take advantage of the incredible opportunities provided by Japan."

Candland originally joined the company as a genereal manager of the Disney Store chain and has been with the Walt Disney Company Japan for nearly a decade.

I sure hope he does a better job than Grier did at TDR.
