I agree with you there. He was awesome in that movie.

I actually like The Rock. He's certainly a better actor than "Ahnold". Think about some of the movies that Arnold was in. They weren't great either. (Conan anybody). But audiences are different these days and demand more story.

I was pleasantly surprised in The Pacifier, his new movie actually looks pretty funny and he's not afraid to poke-fun at himself.

Give the guy a chance.

Our current Governor was a terrific movie star, could never bring myself to call him an actor. "The Rock" seems to have filled his onscreen void nicely (Schwarzenegger actually passed him the torch in a funny brief cameo in 'The Rundown'). This is his 'Kindergarten Cop'.

BTW, Disney's family hit, 'The Pacifier' starred Vin Diesel. echo, echo...

That's right, it was Vin Diesel (who I don't typically care for). It would have been better with The Rock.

Re: "The Rock" set for Disney's 'Witch Mountain'

I really can't see this new movie doing well. The original is like great plain nostalgic cheese to me from my childhood . BTW, I do have the double-feature "franchise" DVD .

BTW, the article says the movie begins production in March. Isn't there a strike coming up around that time??

The goal is to start production no later than March 1, so shooting can be completed by next July, when actors and directors could launch strikes.

It's good to see that everybody lovingly remembers the original 1995 remake of Escape to Witch Mountain...

I agree, he should and stick to wrestling that is what he is good at. I miss his wrestling and promos.

It's funny, he is known as "Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson", not just as being refered to as "The Rock" anymore.

Re: "The Rock" set for Disney's 'Witch Mountain'

AnnaSophia Robb to climb 'Witch Mountain'

Quote:
She’s visited the world’s greatest chocolate factory and taken a trip to Terabithia, but AnnaSophia Robb is about to find herself between a Rock and a hard place, MTV News has learned, as the precocious 13-year-old joins Dwayne Johnson and director Andy Fickman as the female lead in “Witch Mountain,” Disney’s upcoming “remake” of the 1975 classic.

“Not remake,” Fickman corrected. “We didn’t want to come in and just simply do a remake of a movie that we all really liked growing-up. It’s a new chapter within the world of Witch Mountain. I think that for people who have seen the original, they’re going to be very happy with the direction were going. And with people who’ve never seen it, I think it’ll be an exciting ride for them [as well].”

According to Fickman, the biggest difference may be one of tone. “The original book is a very cool dark thriller. We’re pulling elements from that,” he revealed. “It’s a much darker movie than in the 70s when they did ‘Escape to Witch Mountain.’”

The original followed two alien kids with supernatural abilities as they’re pursued by the megalomaniacal millionaire Aristotle Bolt, who wants to exploit their powers. Nothing against the old cast, Fickman laughed, but all original kids had in the way of capture was Eddie Albert.

That’s about to change big time, he enthused.

“Listen, if you’re lost on this planet and you’re being chased by everybody and you could pick one guy to defend you, you pick the Rock, let’s be honest,” he said. “In your list of people who I would like, I want one guy, I choose the Rock. I think the kids choose wisely.”

“It’s going to be a pretty bad-*** ride,” he promised.
