![]() | Re: 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' 10/24/08 I just saw that trailer after watching the first hour of Fiddler on the Roof and sure as hell feel like crying thinking how awful movie musicals are today (Sweeney Todd and Hairspray excluded). For those ignorant kids who think HSM, Grease, Evita and The Phantom of the Opera (2004) are good film musicals please watch one or more of the following: 1776 An American in Paris Gigi My Fair Lady The Unsinkable Molly Brown Finnian's Rainbow Singin' in the Rain Show Boat (1936 or 1951) State Fair (1945 NOT 1962) Oklahoma! Oliver! The King and I West Side Story Hello, Dolly! Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Swing Time The Band Wagon Victor/Victoria How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying South Pacific The Music Man Fiddler on the Roof The Happiest Millionaire Bedknobs and Broomsticks Newsies The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band Babes in Toyland (1934 or 1961) Half a Sixpence Hairspray (2007) Sweeney Todd: the Demon Barber of Fleet Street Easter Parade Yankee Doodle Dandy Carousel Funny Girl The Muppet Movie or The Great Muppet Caper

![]() | Re: 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' 10/24/08 High School Musical doesn't deserve to be compared to those. It's not of the quality nor does it have the talent that those had.

![]() | Re: 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' 10/24/08 I understand that, it was more of a plea to prevent some people from thinking that recent film musicals such as HSM are the be all end all for the genre. I know the first one was just another run of the mill DCOM like Luck of the Irish or Halloweentown 2 but the theatrical version could potentially be more daring in it's song score, scope, ideas instead of being what it is in reality, a mindless franchise extension.

![]() | Re: 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' 10/24/08 Bigger budget doesn't mean it's going to be a good musical (just look at the film version of Camelot or any recent movie musical for example), to quote So Dear to My Heart "it's what you do with what you got". It's entirely possible to make a enjoyable low budget musical about High School students, it's just that Disney didn't make one (or two, or three possibly) unfortunately.

![]() | Re: 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' 10/24/08 Gosh - I thought the trailer seemed fun! And of much better quality than the first two films (yes - I did see them!). You just have to keep in mind the genre and the target demo when you're watching these sort of things - it's not trying to be My Fair lady or West Side Story - it's young, bubblegum pop. Enjoy it for what is it: catchy tunes, cutesy one-liners and just an overall fun, family movie. |

| Indiana Sara?! | Re: 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' 10/24/08 I think taking it to the big screen is taking it over the top, but hey, it did create a cult of fans. I'll see it just because I've seen the other two, hehe. I have no shame! I agree with Angie_Duke, though, for the most part. Those are truly the good musicals and everyone should see at least one of them!

![]() | Re: 'High School Musical 3: Senior Year' 10/24/08 A publicist told me yesterday that it looks like the 'HSM3' premiere will be at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on 10/17 or 18, and neighboring Hollywood High School's gym and field is being considered for an after-party site. Details will be nailed down soon. The event will be by invitation only. Some tickets are as usual being utilized for charitable and promotional purposes. |

So I found a full-length video for "Now or Never" online - it's the song from the trailer but it's not interrupted by dialogue and it has a few different scenes not shown in the trailer. Enjoy! | |
