Wow. Sounds awful.

At least you got an iPhone, though. I had the pleasure of driving all around Southern California and the central coast looking for an iPhone only to return home empty handed. After wasting a tank of gas and being severely disappointed with Apple's inability to stock enough phones, I returned home and decided to wait a while before trying again.

So far so good. As I mentioned in the piece, I had to hit the road almost immediately after spending the day acquiring the darn thing. I was so busy I didn't even have time to transfer any tunes to it. I used my trusty old iPod on the drive down to Garden Grove.

All iPhones, the old one and the new, are supposed to use a proximity sensor that darkens the screen while the phone is up against your ear and turns it on again as soon as you move the phone away from your head.

Mine does just the opposite, darkening the screen once I pull the phone away from my ear, thus making it impossible to end a call by touching the screen.

Other than that things are fine and I really, really like it. The Apple Store? Not so much.
