Dead Man’s Chest Full of Cash:
Cars Passes $200 Million Mark

By C. W. Oberleitner
July 10, 2006

It was a great weekend to be in the movie business, especially if your name is Disney. Eager to escape the heat and or summer showers, in record numbers audiences poured into their local multiplexes seeking adventure with salty old pirates, caped crusaders, witchy bosses, bumbling suburbanites and anthropomorphic cars. It’s enough to make a grown movie mogul weep with tears of joy.

For the record, Chuck... The reviewers are right IMHO... the movie is too long, and the plot line seemed to lack substance, with out a true sense of structure... There was no real sense of purpose, except to set up the third movie... Some of the movie could be cut, as it didn't really have much purpose in advancing the story except to provide action sequinces... Of which it had plenty anyway...

The movie being too long, is not just a critical movie go-er type of problem... It is a business problem... It allows more screenings per day, therefore bolstering the films bottom line... and I think from viewing the film it could have been edited down and that 200 million could have actually been HIGHER... (Mr. Cook and Mr. Buckenheimer should chew on that thought for a while...)

Theatres aren't complaining about it however, as each showing since opening for the most part has been sold out... Not bad for an actor (Depp) who was considered "Box Office Poison"...
