March 31st Olszewski release event - Ariel's Grotto, Plaza Inn

Hi, this is Tim in Hawaii. I went for the event and discovered some great folks (Skywaygrl and Pezlightyear) they encouraged me to join the site. I look forward to meeting other members on future trips (I visit the park way too much -

In the post above I actually found me way up front in the entrance line.




I really like my platform and glad I have been able to get the pieces.

Wow, those boxes are quite nice! But my Olszewski dollars have to be saved to catch up on my miniatures collection

However, I like that they're priced within reach. I'll bet they sell a lot more that way, because people can afford to start a collection.

Hooray for flyboyhi! It was very fun to watch the swing dancers that night with him and skywaygrl.

Sorry if this is a derail since I was not at the actual event that morning and don't own a speck of Olszewski anything. But I needed to say HEY to a new member who is super-cool.

This - unfortunately - is a picture from the event day. They actually sold out of pieces during the event. I think some guests were very upset - well, at least the one I saw/heard...

I talked to a CM at Disneyana the following day, and she said that they turned away the last 6 people in line as well as people who came in later that day. Someone on another list mentioned arriving at 5pm to find them sold out. The CM said they had to hold some to make sure that everyone who had already purchased one but who was waiting for a signature still got one. The CM also mentioned that they'd "found" a few, so they still a few of each at that time, but that was the afternoon of April 1, so not sure if they still have any.

One thing that puzzles me and that I should is a bit unfair is that you can reserve a piece online before they go on sale at Disneyana. Usually with that kind of thing, they tell you that you can be put on a wish list and if there's any left, they'll go to the waiting list. In this case, people who pre-ordered got their pieces, so they would have held those back as well. I understand that's good for people who can't get to the park, but it seems fair that someone gets the piece by pre-ordering whereas someone who shows up at the event during the original sale hours can't get one.

Olszewski emailed that both of these pieces were back in stock a few weeks ago. I went to Disneyana and sure enough they had at least 1 of each to sell me. Unfortunately, not signed

I'm all for pre-ordering, but if Disney marketing peoples aren't going to release sufficient first run quantities, then they should impose a quota on the pre-orders (those who call in and pay for item before it's released for public consumption), and keep the rest for day of sale so NO fans are physically turned away because of a sell out--THAT would feel more magical, no?.....THEN if there're left overs they can resume taking phone/internet orders. IMHO.
