July 8 Product Release & Signing - Disneyland Marque - Page 2

FYI, I've updated the site to include a report on today's release, and I've changed the address of the main page.

I've reworked the main page to break out the various updates as well as writing a new intro, and I think it makes it much easier to navigate. Click on the "updates" link, and then click on the link for the July 8, 2007 update, which includes information about the release of the three versions of the Disneyland marquee and Gallery of Light pieces, pictures of the new Snow White Gallery of Light piece and heirloom box, pictures of the Pirates of the Caribbean Gallery of Light piece and heirloom box, a picture of a very special Disneyland marquee and news of the closing of the Disney Gallery.

Is that designed to fit with the rest of the Olszewski park miniatures, or is this an individual piece?

It's part of the same collection, but like most of the other pieces, it can also be displayed as a stand-alone. I believe it's technically part of the actual Main Street collection, but I won't be able to confirm that until I actually see the box that it comes in. There's also a space for it on the Main Street platform that the Olszewski Studios sells.

I just ordered mine. Cool deal with the free shipping and PAP discount. When are they releasing the "Parking Lot" and "Harbor Blvd" pieces, so I can see how it fits together??

Mine just arrived. I really didn't like that the 'first release' plate was sliding around which way and what inside... the flags on one piece is somewhat damaged because of it.

And one of my pieces didn't come with the certificate... who do i call to get one?

You need to call Olszewski's studio and speak to Travis.
He is very helpful and should be able to assist you.

Yah, PM the phone number please. I'm not too pleased with the two that I have (and it's a really cool piece). One piece has a flag that is wobbly, as it was damaged by the little first issue plaque. The other one has a 'L' of disneyland that appears to have broken and then glued back on... but for whatever reason, it's bent and the crack still shows. And the letters are painted rather sloppily on a few letters here and there too.

Bums me out really.

Yeah, the quality control isn't what I normally expect from Olszewski. The lettering spelling out Disneyland is a little crooked on mine.

Mine came this morning too. That really is about the stupidest way to ship that little plaque... in the only compartment in the packaging where it can do real damage, with those all those little flagpoles! Mine was rattling around in there too. Fortunately, I was lucky and nothing was broken.

I have to agree the workmanship on these is pretty poor. They must be making a killing on the markup with what they probably pay those poor Chinese laborers slapping these things together!

I was going to ask "are you sure it was made in China?" and then I looked at it myself.

Yup.

"handmade in China"

Sigh. And I was thinking we were a society of fantastic painters.
