Re: which Moderate Resort is best?

Port Orleans French Quarter is my choice...smaller than the other moderates so it is more intimate and everything is closer together (less walking to the food court/bus stop). Also, less people on the bus, and a very romantic resort IMO.

However, I have stayed at all 4 moderate resorts, and would recommend any of them, since they are all great in their own way.

Re: which Moderate Resort is best?

You can't go wrong with any of the moderate resorts. Caribbean Beach is more spread out, and is the only one of the moderates where the Main Lobby is not in the same building, and or Central Location, with the Food Court.

Re: which Moderate Resort is best?

is it just me or do the French Quarter building look like all star buildings? Just more themed. How is the bus pick ups for Port Orleans? That is one of the worst things to have that bus stop at everyplace before your location. In both directions, you're stoked to get to the parks and it takes forever, and on the way back you are so exhausted on the way back, that you are dying to crawl into bed.

Thanks for eveyone's input.

Frenh Quarter is much more detailed in terms of theming. All the moderates have corridors outside like the Value resorts, but much more theming. french Quarter has one and only one bus stop, while Riverside has 4 total...another reason I prefer French Quarter.

I will put in my vote for the Cabins at FortWilderness. You get a kitchen and can fix your own breakfast and other food. It can save bit of money if your budget is tight.

HOWEVER, I only would recommend if you have your own car to drive. The bus system is ok, but driving your own car can save a lot of time.

Re: which Moderate Resort is best?

Caribbean Beach is the only one I've actually stayed at, but I definitely recommend it. My next vote would be to Coronado Springs based on pictures...it's where I plan to stay next time I'm out in the World.

If it helps, I have a set of 82 photos from my last stay at Caribbean Beach.

was there 21st Aug - 4th Sept, It depends upon your expectation and tolerance for waiting. Personally, I would say no problems with busses, If you are expecting the equivalent to Taxi's then you will be disappointed, we had one long wait, coming out of the studios in an afternoon, but we had several positive experiences (arriving at the stop to basically meet the outgoing bus). We often shared with French quarter, and took some obscure routes. They are not Taxi's, but they are the main reason I stayed on site this visit. (3 visits, onsite, off, and back on)

This is my favorite moderate resort. Actually, the French Quarter isn't anything like the All-Stars. It's Disney's smallest resort, very quaint with a peaceful feel. If you have ever been to New Orleans, it looks similar. It is a very beautiful resort.

Being the smallest of the other resorts, may be the reason for the better bus service. The bus service is shared with PORiverside (which has 4 bus stops-FQ has only one), but French Quarter is the first to be picked up. You are also the first to be dropped off. Not always, but many times French Quarter has the bus to itself coming back from the parks. The other three moderates have several bus stops and even an internal bus system just to get around the resort.

For night time entertainment, it has Scat Cat's lounge with Elliot Dyson and his one man show. It has a wonderful pool with a dragon slide, outdoor hot tub/whirlpool, gift shop, and a great food court.

A standard view room at the French Quarter means you are more likely to be closer to the food court and bus stop, than farther away. Even if your room were in the building farthest out, it's still not a long walk, as in the other moderate resorts. Also, from their dock, you can take a serene and relaxing boat ride from FQ to Downtown Disney.

The Magic Kingdom has its own dedicated bus to the French Quarter. We just stayed there in July and never shared the entire trip. Drove to the other parks, so I'm not sure if that has changed, but the MK is definitely a dedicated bus...

Also, don't forget about the boat ride to Downtown Disney. A wonderful, peaceful alternative to the bus system for either Riverside or French Quarter.

Re: which Moderate Resort is best?

I'll Add another Vote for the french Quarter, however I like Riverside as well and if you stay at one POR resort you have access to all the amenities of the sister resort which is nice. But of the two the French quarter seems a little nicer to me.

That Cabins at FW are really nice if you have your own car, if you don't rent one you have to catch a buss then transfer to another Bus or boat to get anywhere which can be a bit of a hassle.

CSR and CBR are both nice resorts but the walking to get anywhere is a bit excessive due to the layout around a lake.

Re: which Moderate Resort is best?

We stayed at Coronado Springs and Riverside in March. Out of the two, we liked Riverside the best. We liked their food courts, etc. We thought the Pepper Mill was expensive and did not have a big variety of food.
