Priceline Deals on Hotels

I actually got the idea to use Priceline from the DL Hotels forum, and it seemed to be a good way of saving $.
Anyhow, I was looking at some of the rates that hotels were going for on Priceline in the "Resort" category. It seems quite typical for a resort hotel to go from $60 to $100. This is usually is about 1/3rd to 1/2 the "list" prices online and quite a saving.

In other news, I just put my deposit down on the Wilderness Lodge for my trip next July 2011. Of course, this is fully refundable and with these cheaper options on the table it is quite tempting to abandon it. However, I would like to give Disney property a shot at least once.

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge last year and in my opinion, if you are going to stay on Disney only once, stay at the Wilderness Lodge, we really loved it!

Instead of Priceline, there are other ways to save a bunch on a hotel. One thing we do is buy the Entertainment Book each year. In there they have discounts arranged with many of the off-site properties. We have stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott-Vista Place for $60 a night in June. You can't touch a Disney resort for that price. There's a Sheraton Safari in there, Staybridge suites, The Swan and Dolphin are in there too. Sheraton Vistana,

Your risk on Priceline is that you don't know which place you will be getting...it's a gamble.
