October or March?

My high school sweetheart and I have been together since 1992 and married in March 2000. We went to Disney World for part of our honeymoon and decided that once we had children, that we would take them to Disney World to celebrate our ten year anniversary.

Well, time has flown by and now it's decision time!

We visited Orlando in October 2008 to take our boys (ages 8,6,4) to the Nickelodeon Hotel and Universal Studios/Island of Adventure. I also used this time to check out about ten of the Disney resorts in order to decide where to stay for our anniversary trip.

We can go either October 10-17, 2009 or March 13-20, 2010. Any thoughts on these dates? Thank you for your time!

Re: October or March?

The park closes late in October for the not so scary halloween party. March is extremely busy in March during spring break. But I guess your best bet woul be to go on a day they don't close early in October. Have a great time.

Re: October or March?

We have not yet decided on a resort! That is our next difficult decision! When we were there last October, we were able to check out the Boardwalk, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Dolphin, Swan, both Port Orleans and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Any thoughts?

Re: October or March?

I would go with october the parks are much less crowded. In march the parks most likely will be much more crowded. I also suggest the Contemporary I love that place I haven't stayed there in awhile but as I remember it was simply wonderful. It also provides transportation to MK via Monorail (I love taking the Monorail, I don't know I just do).

Re: October or March?

Definitely October.

I have been to WDW during both months, and without a doubt, October is the better of the two.

October has the Mickey Not So Scary Halloween party and Epcot will have the amazing Food & Wine festival. March has crowds of spring break kids, and thats about it.

What's your budget? If you are looking to stay in a value resort, then Pop Century without a doubt. I stayed there last October and it was awesome! Such a great hotel, and the price was perfect. Opt for the perferred room, which will cost a little more, but keeps you close to the main building and Disney bus stop.

If you can afford something more high-end, go with the Polynesian Hotel. I love it, and if you get a view of the Seven Seas Lagoon with the white sand beaches, its awesome!!!

Budget wise, we are thinking one of the moderate hotels!

My two favorite moderate hotels have always been:

Coronado Springs
Caribbean Beach resort.

That's the reason I haven't been to the contemporary in a few years. As far as Moderate resorts go I suggest Port Orleans it is awesome. I lvoe the scenery it really looks like New orleans (in a good way). For the children they have a great water slide. It's a great hotel I would go with that one.

Considering you will be a family of 5 I would suggest you look at the cabins at fort wilderness. In all the other moderates (unless you get a suite which is pricey) you will have limited space for sleeping... 2 beds (not king size either) would be a little cramped... if you got the cabins you would have 1 room with a bed plus bunk beds... and then the living room has a murphy bed which is actually comfortable... not to mention I think they charge the same rate for a cabin as for any other moderates. Only bad point is you would want to have a rental car

Re: October or March?

Now my next challenge is to decide what parks to do on which days! (including water parks!) We already know that we will visit the MK for a few hours when we get there on Saturday. Other than that we can't decide!
