What do you know about the hostels in Orlando?

Just wanted to know because I am planning to go down in October for MNSSHP in costume and a full experience.

I strongly recommend viewing Hostel and Hostel: Part II, they contain all the information you could possibly want to know about hostels, which is basically: avoid at all costs.

No, I'm serious. I wasn't talking about the movie, but I have been in hostels, and I find them affordable.

GhostHost I am sitting here LOL. Before I got to your response that is the first thought that came to mind when I heard the word "hostel". Thanks for the laugh, great answer.

when we we to Orlando for Halloween Horror Nights at USF we stayed at The Enclave Suites. it was only 79$ a night and the room included a kitchen with toaster oven, microwave, fridge, range, dishes etc.

a lot of the stuff was fairly dated, but it was clean, quiet and comfortable
Will there be screams when the sun sets,

With the new 429 interstate leading directly to the new western way entrance into Disney, Winter Garden Florida is now about a 10 minute drive into Disney World. This historic hotel in downtown WG is absolutely a best kept secret. You get to enjoy a very cute little downtown with no tourist but still be able to go to Disney with the easiest access point that there is. I can go from my front door to riding on a tram in under 20 minutes. The drive is through 2 huge Orange groves. No billboards, No traffic!

An Orlando Area Bed & Breakfast

http://www.historicedgewater.com/ima...ewater1936.gif Step back in time in this unique bed and breakfast located on the second floor of the historic Edgewater Hotel in greater Orlando. The hotel originally opened in 1927 as one of the most technologically advanced hotels of its day. Today the hotel has undergone a historic restoration to provide guests with as much of the original 1927 ambiance as possible while making modern comforts such as climate control and wireless internet as unobtrusive as possible. From the antique sinks and fixtures to the original 1926 Otis elevator, the Edgewater is a bed and breakfast experience like none other in Orlando. The Edgewater is conveniently located just 15 minutes from Walt Disney World, 20 minutes from Universal Studios Orlando, and only 20 minutes from downtown Orlando. And in true bed & breakfast fashion, your stay includes a full breakfast served by our innkeeper. The Edgewater is ideal for intimate weddings, anniversaries, family reunions, retreats, and small conferences and seminars.

I just checked the rates there and they are not so cheap. They are about the same as the All Stars & the Moderates, and on property you don't have to drive at all. Plus, Winter Garden????

Re: What do you know about the hostels in Orlando?

I have to agree with the other posters, I have stayed in off Disney hotels when I used to work projects in the Orlando area all the time, some are nice some well lets just not go there. You can find bargain basement pricing out there but you do get what you pay for and I'd rather not pay with my life, health or happyness in gerneral thank you verry much.

Disney hotels are pretty well isolated from the "real world" and are clean, safe and secure. You also get the benefits of EMH's, Magical Express bus service to the hotels, if you rent a car there's free parking, not having to search for you white rental car that looks like the other 10,000 white rental cars in the lot, and not having to worry about driving home when your exhausted. By the time you add up the costs of rental car. Gas and the 10$/day in parking a lot of those off property deals really don't buy you much, in fact you can wind up spending more than you would stayign in one of the value resorts.

Disney is not cheap, we all know that but I learned that like many things in life trying to go too cheap can often cost you a lot more in the long run, and often times you may not realize it untill it's too late. I'd rather save up and wait annother year to go back than to try to pull it all together on too tight of a budget and get an ulcer worryig about the cost or have my family mad at me because of the corners we cut got in the way of our fun.
