Log Ride For Hard Rock Park

A log ride is being projected as the next new attraction for Hard Rock Park. Well, abolut all I have to say is that it's about time. whle the park was in it's development stage, I spoke to a couple of it's main executivesand suggested to them that they needed to include at least one or two water rides.

In the absence of much else other than coasters (innovative as the coasters are), HRP has pretty m,uch labeles itself "another coaster park". This doesn't bode well for it in attracting park goers with varied interests - especially those that are not local - and the gas crunch doesn't help matters.

Surely they could have built a log ide in place of one of the current coasters. Oh well ...at least they are finally getting around to putting one in. If they build a fun one and theme it well, they could have a hit on their hands. Nights In White Satin sounds to be an exciting dark ride. That will be the first thing I will hit when I visit the park for the first time.

What do you think. Should HRP have ha a water ride ready to go on opening day? A poll is now up.

I honestly think that Reggae River Falls was originally the name of a log flume, but it got cut and they put the name on the waterplay area instead. I'm hoping the place gets a log flume and a rapids ride sometime, they are traditional within themeparks.

Absolutely agree, stitchon. The name Reggae River Falls implies a water ride, and is wasted on a commonplace kiddie waterplay area. A log flume ride is apparently on it's way. Should be a doozy too. Everything that Hard Rock does has either great theming or a fantastic twist to it. I'm sure that the park will eventually offer a rapids ride as well.

Yeah. From the photos, the park reminds me of DCA, great theming in some places, others not so much. It has a ton of potential though.

Tons of potential! Can't wait to check it out in person - possibly next year if all goes right.

I'm proud of Hard Rock for how well they themed it. It's great when a restaurant company can create better parks than Six Flags!

    Right on!

Six Flags should hang it's head low for it's inept theming and lack of initiative to become more than a typical mundain park. I'll bet the food at Hard Rock puts Six Flags to shame too. Cotton candy and popcorn only go so far. LOL!

What I've heard is that Hard Rock could fall on hard times with its very low attendance figures... it's already canceled its Halloween activities, shortened park hours and will close early for the winter season.

I've heard the same rumor. They should have opened the park in a major market area such as Orange County, California (or near by), Tampa. Hope Hard Rock hangs in there and weathers the sluggish economy.

I'd hate to see the park close. I've really contemplated making a trip out there in the future but, with the economy the way it is for me, I just don't know if it's do-able.

Hopefully, like some other high-profile parks, HRP will not be preemptive and give up but rather, expand into a park at least on par with Bush theme parks.

My suggestion to the park would be: add a log ride, add another dark ride (one that isn't as "funky" as Nights in White Satin"), lower food prices (everywhere I look people seem to complain about the prices for food), and ADVERTISE (supposedly advertising has been bare minimum).

Re: Log Ride For Hard Rock Park

Is this park owned by the Seminole tribe who owns all the other Hard Rock things? If so, they're loaded. I think they can weather the storm. I agree that it needs a lot more than coasters. Myrtle Beach is very much a family tourist town, many of them with young kids or older adults. A coaster park alone isn't going to cut it. It needs some coasters but also a lot of other type rides such as this log flume, rapid ride, and some other dark ride types.

Re: Log Ride For Hard Rock Park

Doing a little digging on the Internet, I found this:
HRP Myrtle Beach Operations, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of
HRP, is designing, developing, constructing, and will own and operate
Hard Rock Park (the "Park"), an approximately 140-acre rock-n-roll
theme park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina under a long term license
agreement with Hard Rock Cafe International (USA), Inc. The members of
HRP Myrtle Beach Partners, LLC, the parent of HRP, are (i) HRP
Executive Management Co., LLC, an entity owned by the Park's executive
management team consisting of Steven Goodwin, Felix Mussenden and Jon
Binkowski, who designed and developed the Park's concepts and will be
responsible for building and operating the Park; (ii) FHTP, LLC, a
group of prominent Myrtle Beach investors and community leaders; and
(iii) HRPV-I, LLC, a joint venture led by real estate developer Ziel
Feldman, Amnon Bar-Tur, the Managing Member of SafeHarbor Holding,
LLC, and Israeli investment funds Africa Israel Investment and Polar
    International Real Estate.

The tribe holds an interest in the park.
