I went beach camping in Carpinteria!

Carpinteria is a small beach town right outside Santa Barbara, CA.

The state beach offers overnight camping and we have camped there every summer for the last 16 years. My whole family goes and we get about 4 camp spots! It's a great time and very beautiful!

Ok, on with the photos! Didn't take too many this year but I thought i'd share!

    Enjoy!

Taken from our campsot facing the beach

    sunset on the first night

it was a overcast every morning but it burnt off by mid afternoon

what our campsite looked like before we set up

    and after

me and my Mom! Cocktail time after we set up camp

dinner one night and Mom is being smiley

you can literally pitch your tent on the sand

    we had a visitor

but who doesn't love a good midnight snack he he he

    just chillin

out to dinner at our fav restaurant The Palms. The have the best seafood and we all get crab legs! YUM!

my uncle and my sister w/ her boyfriend

    me and my best friend

So that's all. I didn't take too many beach pics this year. Lots of family ones but those are kinda boring if you don't know people... he he he

Carpinteria, my second home. Nice to see campground picts for a change, since I never make it over there when we are there (we stay at Carpinteria Shores).

Ahh yes! A very nice place to stay!
Do you eat at The Palms and The Spot?

And the crutons at The Palms are the BEST crutons in the world!
    They are sooo delicious!

Silly thing to love about a restaurant, but ohhh man!

I've been going to Carpinteria since, well, I was literally in my mommys tummy, and the rest of the family has been going since about 1962. Do you think I've ever eaten at The Palms? Nope But The Spot, now that's an institution!

I miss The Zone. Have you noticed how Linden has sort of turned more upscale the past year? Now there's some overly priced place where Zone was, The Deli is now some fancy Italian place, there's the new wine/tapas bar, Fish Barrel has been replaced by a Thai place. What the hell!?

My sister (who lives in Camarillo) did go to the wine/tapas place last week and said it was pretty good, but that the prices for the place that replaced The Zone, were outrageous. Like over $40 for a filet mignon

Sorry, just bitching a little. The old town beach town flavor of the place I consider to be a second home is getting all snooty, and not in a good way.

    Oh i TOTALLY agree!

When i was younger my sister and I would go thru the town and hit up all the vintage shops and it was soo fun!
Now they've all been replaced with snobby coffee bars! Linden is just getting weird!
That Rite Aid that they moved from Casitas doesn't even look like a Rite Aid! It was soo odd!

And i remember the Zone! I loved that place! I was sad about that!

I want my old town Carpinteria back!

But PLEASE visit The Palms on your next visit! You WILL NOT regret it!
It's soo amazing! And their cocktails are very reasonable as well!

Gee, I've been in the mood to go camping recently and this only makes it worse! I used to camp a little further up at Refugio State Beach when I was a kid.

I have been camping there. I love it. There is a little restaurant not far from there called the big yellow house. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat when I was in that area but the new owners really did a number on it. Now it is just decent at best.

That's sad to hear (about the Big Yellow House). It's such a cool place atmosphere-wise, and the food was always so good. I hate when good places start to go bad.

Try Clementines in Carpinteria proper. It rocks! It's just west of Linden on Carp. Ave.

I haven't been camping in Carpenteria, but looking at your pictures makes me want to take the trip! Beach camping is so much fun and it's always lovely during the day and cool at night... perfect!

    Great pics!

Re: I went beach camping in Carpinteria!

We have SUCH a good time but it is getting harder and harder to book a spot. We have to plan NINE months in advance!
    It's ridiculous!
There are very few beaches in SoCal for camping and the beach access doesn't even come CLOSE to Carpinteria!
