O-nut takes a hike, no really! Charmlee County Park

Yesterday (Saturday) my friend and I decided to go for a hike/nature walk and decided on Charmlee County Wilderness Park. It's above Malibu, just off Encinal Cyn. Rd. about 4 miles from P.C.H. It has many trails to walk on and has beautiful views of the Pacific.



There’s a nature center, which caters to school groups (it was closed for the day when I was there) and a nice picnic area nearby with what appears to be an “amphitheatre” for group activities.



The following are some photos of the wildflowers that are blooming all over the park this time of year. They were really spectacular.

This is the vine of a wild cucumber. I thought it was so cool how the tendrils just grab onto anything and everything in it’s way.


And here’s a wild cucumber on the vine. Very pod people looking.

I’ve been to Charmlee a couple of times, over 10 years ago, and it seemed to have remained the same, which in my eyes, is a good thing. If you’re looking for a new place to go for some hikes that aren’t too too strenuous, check out Charmlee. Oh and fyi, on crystal clear days (as you can see from my ocean views, it was a bit hazy) you can see all the way to Long Beach, and the Channel Islands. Bring a camera!
