If I did hit one of them I would feel bad. It wouldn't be to intentionally hurt them. It would be an instinct. Like if someone pops out of no where and tries to eat you than your probably going to kick them then run or something. I just couldn't help it. Dont worry though, I'm not going so we don't have to worry about anybody bailing me out of jail!

I am scared VERY easily. However, some of these mazes sound amazing that I would muster up the courage and go. Too bad I'm not anywhere near Knott's.

If you freak out at anyone popping out at you or getting close...Haunt likely isn't for you. Some of the monsters literally chase people that freak out on the streets, so getting scared and hitting a employee, then getting kicked out, isn't a good idea. My advice is if you know you'd react like that, don't go...because one person at least is going to jump out at you, and probably a lot more than that the longer you stay.

but, my cousin is taking me to the Six Flags Haunts thing. Hopefully, that isn't too bad. I have a scream that can be heard for miles. haha

I'm looking forward to all the new and returning mazes but since I could only vote for one..I went with Terror of London. Jack the Ripper and Dr. Jekyll in one maze is almost a dream come true. My second vote goes to Uncle Bobo's, I just love those clowns.

I went once. The person I went with got really annoyed with me because I wasn't scared. I hated the mazes. Mainly because of the screaming in a very small area. I found all the screaming really annoying. At one point two monsters blocked my way. I just said "excuse me" and they let me by. Nothing to be scared about.

So, I am on the other end of the spectrum. It doesn't scare me, but it's not my type of thing...so i don't go.

I agree with you on the "not scared" issue...in going to haunt for four years, I have been startled once, and that was due to setup. Never scared. I go for the set design and atmosphere...I love Halloween, and haunted attractions. The design and detailing and all are what interest me, really, I am with you on it not being frightening though.

And then you have people like me who get freaked out really easily but still enjoy Haunt because of the OMG! moments where you get that startle that is sorta like a thrill on a roller coaster.... its kinda weird that when you get startled or scared it releases endorfins that kinda make you all tense but at the same time its like a good form of torture... you want the constant startles and near heart attacks to end but then at the same time you dont because you want to continue on and see how everything else unfolds the rest of the night... and really its kinda startling but so much fun because no matter how tired you are, you wont find any time to rest... and then you just realize its all in good fun and no matter how freaked out you get or no matter how much your friends push you to the front to lead them through the maze, or no matter how much you think covering your face or ears will protect you from the scares [trust me it wont work becuase Knotts monsters even have tactics for when you totally do that and I am not going to ruin the fun of being on the receiving end of those for any virgins out there]... the main thing to keep in mind overall is that yes its scary, and its supposed to be... that and the monsters are paid to scare you and not be nice... maybe even a little morbid on any humor done to you at their expense in front of your friends but remember turnaround is fair play because when your friends start laughing at your misfortune theres always another monster there to give you a laugh at your friends misfortune when some other monster scares your friend... but having said all that, you will be scared but you are having lots of fun at the same time getting scared... its really just lots of scary fun!

So yeah I wont lie that I am like those blonde haired teenage girls that scream all high pitched and freak at every little thing... but I went last year and had a blast despite some mazes and some moments in a few mazes really freaking me out... Most notably the sound of the chainsaw in the fog of ghost town really almost got me chased but when you have 4 monsters cornering you and then ganging up on you its kinda half the fun because nowhere in the park is a safe zone [except for fiesta village minus whatever maze is there] and half the fun is walking through the dangerous areas between mazes and shows and just having fun making those moments that are memorable when something you did not expect comes out of the fog!

Plus it is kinda cool to walk through the fog with the eerie lighting and sounds and find something sliding towards you, or jumping at you, or growling in your face! I loved how some of the monsters in a few mazes and street zones even played with your mind.... and then the evil clowns... I love clowns and evil killer clowns just = amazing!

So for "LittleImagineer" yes its very scary but its also very fun... the thing is that if I can go and have a great time with friends going through mazes, getting cornered in street zones or even followed and chased by monsters in the mazes, and just enjoying myself and having a fun old time getting scared... I am pretty sure you could try it once and enjoy it and well if you find that you did not like the first few mazes you did or get too freaked out in Ghost Town, Knotts does still operate the rides and haunt has some pretty amazing and freaky shows and you still arent losing out if you wait in lines for any of those rides if the mazes arent your cup of tea... but I will say that mazes are hella fun and really worth doing.

just my best advice coming from someone like myself who gets scared very easily... try it once, get yourself in there knowing that you will be scared... have a sense of humor because some monsters will use dark humor in their scares and laugh off a lot of the scares or find the humor in friends getting caught off guard or even yourself getting caught off guard on the streets or in the mazes... and remember... if you can withstand at least an hour of scares in the mazes and street zones, the rest of the night will be doable and after an hour of getting scared and realizing what to expect for most of the night you will probably be having so much fun going from maze to maze enjoying yourself that 1am or 2am will hit and you wont want leave...

And the best advice for even if you get too scared its all about realizing half the fun is walking through the maze and realizing that its all everyday normal people out there who are paid to become monsters at Haunt that are there to scare you and give you your moneys worth... and believe me last year I more than got my moneys worth from Haunt just on the level everything was done which is so much better than anything else they could do for Halloween here in Phoenix... and the mazes are built by theatrical standards along with everything pretty much being smoke and mirrors which is good if you are into theatrical stuff or just a nut for set building... plus the time and effort some of these people put into mazes both as builders, designers, and scareactors is amazing, from a perspective of design its amazing to see how they can take areas of the park and blend mazes and other experiences into them along with lighting, fog, live actors, sounds, and other ambience to turn Knotts Berry Farm into this really awesome experience!

The one thing that really got my sister and I deciding to trek out from Phoenix again this year for even more days of haunt this year was how everything was so well put together, how amazing it was to have the ambience, the shows like the Hanging, the mazes which were really crazy but still pretty amazing, and just the overall experience that was Haunt last year.

I say to try it once, what do you really have to lose... just dont hit any monsters because thats like terrible because before you think of hitting a monster... realize that under the makeup, mask, latex prostetic, etc, its someone from everday life under there... would you want to be hit if you were dressed up in a costume doing their job.... just be respectful and enjoy the thrill of the night and you will have fun.

I'm one of those crazy people that go on terrifying rides just to get the rush and then I find out that it's really fun. I have a feeling I would be scared to death there, but I would also find it fun because of the adrenaline rush and all that. Haha. Maybe my friends and I will go one year

    Re: Knott's Scary Farm 2009

I'm definitely gonna try going again this year! The tweets from the Knott's Berry Farm twitter have gotten me so excited and it looks like there's a lot of creativity going into the mazes this year.

    (Except for Alien Annhilation. Uggghhh.)

Does anyone know the best time to go to avoid the middle schoolers? The last time I went, the only times I was miserable it had to do with middle schoolers. And one adult.

Oh yeah you will be scared to death... but thats half the fun! Trust me that the monsters do not hold back on scares... Last year in the 3D maze I was followed by one monster through the whole thing from beginning to end... not to mention teamed up by a few in the maze and backed into a corner... but after the maze, it was all in good fun and my friends were giving me a hard time about it all night, but then the tabled turned when we got into Club Blood and they were the ones being terrorized by vampires.... and then my one friend had a fear of clowns so really with all the variety Knotts has, you can really pick your poison and have a great time no matter what you are into... Last year there was something there for everyone in our group... I love the more fantasy type of horror and the more fantasy themes so Obviously my favorites were Labyrinth and Cornstalkers!

For example, if you like Gore and gruesome blood and guts and stuff like Saw, Hostel, and movies like that, theres "The Slaughterhouse"

If you like pixies, fantasy, and goblins and gremlins... theres "The Labyrinth"

If your thing was an old Mansion and an actual Haunted Manor that has poltergeists, spirits and other halloween things... then there was 13 Axe Murder Manor [its being replaced by Terror of London this year]

If you like in your face horror and reality and the feeling of being trapped in an apartment building with rabid people... like the whole reality horror thing there was "Quarantine"

If you liked things like Buffy, Angel, Lost Boys, and newer modern vampire stuff like Queen of the Damned then they had Club Blood.

If the whole Silent Hill type of thing was up your alley with all the classic horror elements and sounds... along with a very crazy blood on the walls, medical scenes, and other stuff then the ASylum was your thing [now being replaced by Lockdown:The Asylum]

So theres really something for everyone and I would suggest going but dont punch anyone... hitting monsters is not cool and seriously it loses you cool points and will only make the day worse... also dont Drink prior to going because thats a bad thing... alcohol will constrict your blood vessels and with all the heart pumping thrills and adrenaline rushes from each scare its a heart attack waiting to happen... and also drinking impairs judgement so if you would react a certain way normally then while drunk it would not be good at all. My suggestion is to go and have fun... its really a rush and the whole night is amazing "scary" fun!

    Re: Knott's Scary Farm 2009

The first two weeks of haunt are pretty slow. Plus, if your go the first week or so... you have the most monsters there (before the rookies drop out) and every monster there is pumped and excited to be scaring again. If you cant go till later on, then weekdays are the least crowded. Also, Halloween night isn't very busy but since its on a Saturday this year it might be busy. You would want to avoid weekends in October.

You can always go to the 3rd Annual Micechat Meet at Haunt Saturday September 26th!!
