Hope the new owner keeps the key Cedar Fair management team in place... as has been the rumor. Far as I'm concerned, they are accomplishing a lot on a shoestring budget... relatively speaking.

Current management thinks giving away a season's worth of admissions for $160, good for admission to every park -- dry and water -- is a good idea. Skews your demographic away from people buying one-day-and-done tickets (the way my family and friends used to in Ohio in the 1970's) and toward those who will go often. If they stay at Cedar Fair Hotels, then great. But they usually don't.
Here's a telling metric: Total Revenue per guest in 2008 was about $40. A one-day ticket (for Cedar Point -- maybe less at other parks) costs $46.

Goal for management, new or old, should be to increase that metric. If that means lowering admission numbers forecasts (by changing the season pass program), so be it. Parks that cannot keep their revenues above expenses will be shut down (with their rides dismantled and reconstructed at another park) or sold.

Problem for management is that they have new bosses who expect a return on their investment. Or changes will be made.
(The old bosses had shareholder/absentee bosses who were only concerned with the stock price, which is only a perception of company worth.)

    Most likely your right!
Almost like no one has the money now anyway.....?
still I do not think Disney wants Knotts go to wrong hands!
I sure it's on a -wait and see -list for Disney?
But as rollercoaster goes they can be taken out as well!
I also sure Disney is lest talking about the news ,
I can not think they have NO INTEREST at all...?
But again I could be wrong!
PS: If Disney do not want it ,I Hope it would fall in the right Hands and
Maybe clean the mess that Cedar Fair did to it!

Disney is best just to sit back and watch it all unfold.

Don't most of the CP parks including Knott's still make a profit? With the sale of the Busch/Sea World parks, and now the CP parks, evidently investment firms believe theme parks are a profitable business. How this will bode for the future of Knott's, I'm not sure. Knott's has stiff competition in the area with Legoland and Disney taking the family crowd, and teens going to Six Flags. Knott's has tried to appeal to the tween market but that's just not big enough to be sustainable. I hope they return to theme but I won't be holding my breath.

Knock down Ghostrider, rebuild the California Marketplace, and bring back Kingdom of the Dinosaurs and I'll consider it a good thing that this place bought out Knott's. Anything short of that and it will just be business as usual.
