Knott's will NEVER outdo nor beat Disney. What they need to do is quit worrying what Disney is doing and worry about what Universal is doing with Horror Nights taking away from their Haunt. Haunt is what keeps Knott's being able to operate as a year round park. Take the money they're using on this Starlight Spectacular and apply it towards Haunt to bring it back to the glory days it had in the 80's.
^ Agreed.
I think Knott's just "assumes" that people will keep coming back for Haunt for the simple fact that it's "Haunt". But there are alternatives now and it's not the only game in town.
Sure, for those of us who like going to multiple events, we will still go, but for everybody else, they may not every year.

The world is a treasure trove of places.
The colors of Earth, Sea and Sky. Beauty i'm told, is ours to behold. In the wonderful world of color.

Exactly!!! Last year Haunt didn't sell out once. I heard Universal's takes it over the top and I'm excited to see what they do. I heard more and more people rave about Universal. Knott's also lost the Zombieland scare zone last year which would of been amazing. Haunt just needs a serious revamp with people who actually care about Haunt. Invest in Haunt Knott's!!!! Don't waste your time and money on something that will never ever draw people away from what's going to be the biggest draw of summer...The world of color. Knott's used to own Halloween. Haunt is the ONLY thing that beats Disney. Hell, even Tony Baxter loves going to Haunt. Invest the money in the one thing they do the best and make it even bigger!!! I would love to be the one who oversees Haunt!!!
Honestly, I don't think this is Knott's trying to compete with Disneyland. We've all seen over the years that Knott's and Disneyland going head-to-head when it comes to matching rides and what not just doesn't happen. Knott's knows it can't compete with Disney.
Personally, I think this is just the media trying to throw something that Knott's is doing into a battle with Disneyland. I mean, where in the article does it say from a Knott's official that they're "trying to compete with Disneyland", especially since this same night color thing was done at a different Cedar Fair park back east, last year?
Seriously guys, as a seasonal Knott's employee (Haunt), I say give the Farm a break.

Exactly. This nighttime display at Knott's is part of a chain-wide expansion of a program started at Cedar Point last year. Its ridiculous to posit this as direct competition to WOC.Honestly, I don't think this is Knott's trying to compete with Disneyland. While I won't debate the "CP'ization" of Knott's, I'll take this on its own merits, something that's not possible to do until it debuts. You never know, it just might be a worthwhile addition even if its no Disney scale spectacular.
Knott's should not try to compete with Disneyland. It should be it's own entity. That is why Legoland is doing so well. Knott's Competing with Disneyland is like an Elephant competing with a june bug.
As a former skeptic of CP's Starlight Experience last year, I can inform all of you that you are frankly dead wrong if Knotts is putting on a show that equals the Points. It is not "christmas lights and inflatables." Well it is inflatables, which do seem out of place, but the lights are something special, they move to the music and are really quite magical. It takes a lot to get me off of roller coasters at night (best time to ride) but as the season went on last year, the SE became one of my required things I did with the very short amount (1 hour) of night time I have at Cedar Point mid summer. Im sure its not going to compare to WOC but you will be pleasantly surprised I guarantee it.
I can just imagine the families now.
"Well, there's a huge, incredible, awe-inspiring water show at Disney...and twinkling lights and inflatables at Knott's. Tough decision."
I don't know... beautiful, twinkling lights, music, and Snoopy. And lots of uncrowded space.
...or...
wall to wall people, waiting for hours (or arriving hours early to get a "showpass"), and blanket-strewn walkways, all to watch tv through a large water sprinkler.
I'll take Knott's on this one. It may not compete, but it's enough of a change of pace for me.
You enjoy those crowds now, ya hear? I'll be thinking of all of you as I take my peaceful, lovely evening stroll.![]()
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?
The Christmas Lights on my house are more exciting. Sorry but Knott's is a far, far second to anything that Disney does. Thus the cheap admission prices. (They do have a waterpark!)

I like how people just went right past my post that Knott's isn't attempting to compete with Disney. Just because the news says it, doesn't make it true, people.
