Knotts Berry Farm to compete with World of Color with it's own show
Night light fight: Knott’s Berry Farm vs. Disney’s California Adventure - Travel - LATimes.com
I don't know why they think that this might compete with WOC. LOL
Well, might as well see this when they debut this to see for myself if it's a worthy contender.

The Peanuts-themed lighted walkway will take over Knott’s Camp Snoopy area during the summer and fall, with all the trees and buildings trimmed with animated LED lights synchronized to music. Inflatable Peanuts characters will dot the lighted trail, which will operate every night that the Buena Park theme park is open after 8 p.m.
:???: :whistling
It isn't a good sign when the marketing copy can't even make it sound exciting.
Blinking inflatable Snoopy and lights in trees isn't a competition with World of Color. It's practice for Christmas decorating.

Ooooh...lights AND inflatables! Is Kmart in charge of their decor now?

LOL I agree. The Marketing people at Knotts couldn't make it convincing either.
An area with bright lights and inflatables makes it a complete wimp.

Here's what I posted on the LA Times Blog (if it gets approved):
I love me some Knott's, but this plan is just embarrassing. Looks more like left over Christmas decorations. Positioning it against World of Color only makes matters worse.
Come on Knott's, if you want to compete with Disney, build a family dark ride or goofy haunted house or something cheesy but fun for all ages (but not another coaster which rips the soul out of your park). Show some vision and get back to your family friendly roots! That is the path to your salvation!
Time to stand up to the brain damaged executives at Cedar Fair and tell them NO for a change. Knott's is a beloved SoCal tradition which the Ohio boys are destroying inch by inch, year after year.
You can't fight Disney with a strand of Christmas tree lights!

This is the best complaint for Knotts. Cedar Fair should read this.

even my dad agrees that cedar fair killes knotts
but in all seriousness, what corporate idiots thought they could beat a show 9 years in the making with a couple of lights? its just embarassing

Very well said!
But this is Knott's. They never did anything quite as good as Disney. Even their fireworks show on Reflections Lake never did quite meet the grandeur of Fantasy In The Sky. That being stated, it was a good show for what it was.
But you are right. This does seem to be just a bunch of strung up lights, which is a shame. And instead of competing with Disneyland, Knotts should concentrate on bringing back those things that made it such a great family park many years ago.
Re: Knotts Berry Farm to compete with World of Color with it's own show
last time I was at knotts I was disappointed. the park used to have charm, originality, you know? excitement. now its just, you know? a park.
its actually more like a carnival with a fancy restaurant and gift shops.
and substandard entertainment like the one in the video.
Re: Knotts Berry Farm to compete with World of Color with it's own show
Knott's is probably only trying to outdo the Pixie Hollow light show. ;)
Re: Knotts Berry Farm to compete with World of Color with it's own show
The show that Knott's used to have before the ripped out the lake for Silver Bullet was actually not bad.
Re: Knotts Berry Farm to compete with World of Color with it's own show
...
You have GOT to be kidding me.
Knott's is planning to use something like that to compete against something much, MUCH more bigger like the World of Color.
And after seeing both the WOC testing videos and the Cedar Point Starlight video (for demonstration on what it's going to look like), I can honestly say that Knott's stands NO chance here. And I mean, NO CHANCE.
Seriously, come on, Knott's. If you guys think you can use something like that to compete against something like the WORLD OF COLOR, than you're only fooling yourselves. You guys need to do better than that. MUCH BETTER!
