    Emerald City Comicon 2010

    Hi everyone,

So last weekend was the 8th annual Emerald City Comicon. It is Seattle's largest convention and gets better every year. I have attended every day of it since it began. So here is this year's report.

I got there early as usual. It was about 7:30 am when I arrived. About an hour later they moved us to right outside the convention hall.

    The line in front.

The line behind me a few minutes later.

Anyway, first thing to do was to go get a convention exclusive, then off to an appointment with this man.

Yep that is Stan Lee, creator of characters like the Hulk, Iron Man, and Spider-Man. The crowd in the area was crazy, but they got it under control. He signed a hardcover for me of Silver Surfer Vol.1 issues 1-6 and shook my hand.

The next few hours were spent shopping, and meeting comicbook creators. I did stop by the 501st's booth which they were sharing with Droid makers. He is an incomplete 2-1B.

    Here is a tired Ewok.

Like I said, most of the day was spent autograph hunting. However, I had another job later in the day. Each year they have a costume contest and I help out the guy who takes the official pictures. That gives me a front row spot to take pictures of some great costumes. Here are some of the best.

Colonial Marine from Aliens. The gun had a great swivel arm that really worked, just like in the movie.

Cobra Commander: This guy had a voice, just like in the cartoon.

    Ms. Marvel

    Silk Spectre

Clockwise: Elektra, Psylocke, and Lady Bullseye

    A Predator.

    Silent Hill Nurse Zombies.

Queen Bavmorda and General Kael from Willow.

And finally the costume that won...

    Captain Dallas from Alien.

Incredible costume. Anyway that is it for day one. I will post day 2 soon.

    Re: Emerald City Comicon 2010

I suppose I should do day 2 huh?

Ok here is the pre-requisite picture of the Space Needle, taken from the ferry.

Then here is another picture from the convention center. This is Pike street. You can see the Pike Place Market in the distance.

Melonballer and the Punisher (well one of them, Thomas Jane)

But you did not come for pictures of me. Here is one of a cosplayer as the modern Silk Specter.

Then we have a set of 3 as Harley Quinn, Black Widow, and Poison Ivy.

Then we have the Atomic Bombshells.

I spent most of the day getting autographs and doing some shopping. It was not as crowded as Saturday. I spent quite a bit of time talking with Bungie Studios about Halo.

Anyway, here is some shots of things I got at the con. The first is the 2nd annual Monsters and Dames book. The art inside is created by attendees of the convention. It is a lot of fun to get signed by them

Then we have some buttons from the DC booth as well as a Black Lantern ring. Also a button from Hot Tub Time Machine.

I bought a cool pin from the local Star Wars fan club. It is a fully licensed by Lucasfilm pin showing the Millenium Falcon flying towards the Space Needle. All proceeds go to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

And that is it. See you next year when we will have a 3 day convention.

Whose connection did you have to sever in order to get that Black Lantern ring?

Thanks for that great report, Melonballer!

You are welcome. And all I had to do was walk up to the DC comics booth and grab one. That is it.

Luckilly no one was dressed as Hawkgirl or Hawkman at the event.

    Re: Emerald City Comicon 2010

In honor of this thread being picked up for the weekly update, I went back and put together a few more pictures from the costume contest.

Here is another picture of the Silent Hill Nurses.

Then we have another of the Predator. This pic though has the Master Chief with her.

Then from the Venture Brothers we have 21, 24 and Dr Girlfriend. When we were setting up the backdrop earlier we needed an extra hand, so I was like "21! 24! Get over here!". Sure enough they came to help. lol

    Green Goblin.

    Two-Face

Oh and one last swag picture. I bought this on Sunday. It was the last Alex Ross Justice figure I needed for my collection.

And there we have it. I am all out of good pictures. I hope you all enjoyed them. Thanks for reading.
