Well, DOSH declared Knott's and Intamin equally at fault for the cable failure, and has cleared the ride to reopen- which the park did about 5 pm today.

This make my BF and I very happy, as we were heading to Knott's this weekend, and this is his favorite ride. Hooray!
Hopefully, I can get a copy of the Knott's Preserved book while I'm down there? Anyone know if it's on sale there yet?
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?
Cool, hopefully it will be open next time we decide to head to Knott's.

Such a great ride - but really wish they had painted it during the downtime! Ugh - that pepto pink and pale blue is just awful.

Cool, I've never ridden it, not a big coaster fan but I think I'll give it a whirl.
Hi there! Keep your fingers crossed as the Knott's Preserved book will be on its way to Knott's on Friday. If you're there on Saturday, I'd definitely ask the clerks at Virginia's gift shop if the book has been distributed through the park's Merchandising department.
Thanks for asking!
You guys have seen the video right?

^I can't imagine a safer time to ride it than right now, following months of downtime, repair, and state and public scrutiny. You do know the drive to the park is more likely to kill you than a spin on a coaster, don't you?
Do you ride Big Thunder? That modest little Disney mine train killed a guest. Knott's isn't the only operator to experience a malfunction, virtually any park has. Me, I'll continue to take my chances.
^What he said. The Columbia ship killed someone who was just waiting in line, but I'll still go to ride it.

Matterhorn, Space Mountain, the flippin People Mover... all deaths via Disney.
People even drowned in the Rivers of America. :-/
