    Compare Knotts to Disneyland

So, I've been wondering, Whats good and bad about both parks?

Lets start with Knotts, its pros and cons
    • Pros: Has good rides, most of them thrill, A water ride or two, a couple shows, and jam. Lots of jam xD
    • Cons: Its Halloween themes (blood, guts, gore etc)
    Next is Disneyland
    • Pros: Its Halloween Theme not bloody like Knotts, good rides
    • Cons: Some of the other rides are pure junk.
Thats all I can think of, You guys know any other bad/good things about the parks?

Don't overlook the attractions maintenance. Knotts appears to operatate with a frighteningly low budget for maintenance. I witnessed an employee circumvent safety measures (such as seat belts/lap bar safety interlock) at the instruction of his lead in order to keep the ride in operation. This was in their kiddie ride section.

The park isn't nearly as clean as DLR.

The Knotts employees (on average) aren't as friendly with guests as DLR CMs.

A recent news article stated that every amusement park in SoCal (except DLR) had lower visits in 2009. That has to hurt their bottom line. On a trip last year to Knott's, employees were checking every bill ($5 and up) with counterfeit pen detectors. It smacks of poor trust and training in their employees, and desperation by senior management.

Blood, guts, and gore is a con?
Does anyone even bother with signatures anymore?

That's completely not true. From my past experience at Knott's, walking through the parks it's been MUCH cleaner than Disneyland. There's little to no graffiti at Knott's and there's never trash on the ground. I used to walk through the park during haunt prior to haunt opening after the park closed and it was never dirty. There was never trash on the ground. That's just a common stereotype by us Disney Fanboys. I would argue that it's CLEANER than Disneyland.

Comparing Knott's to Disneyland is like comparing apples and oranges.

Umm... Again, I know this has been mentioned... But how is Haunt a con to the overall Knotts experience when it has been going on yearly for over 36 years and is where Knotts makes about half of its yearly revenue from?

I know that I go out from Phoenix, AZ just for Haunt and believe me that its one of the best events I have been to [the haunted houses and events we have out here in Arizona are not on par with Knotts]... Not to mention, its not all blood and gore... Knotts is pretty good at keeping a theme through their mazes, using a little bit of blood and gore but not overdoing it like some places that rely on purely shock value. Events that use nothing but gore and blood as shock value are pretty amatuer IMO... Knotts on the other hand has 13 mazes which allow you to pick your poison so to speak... If you dont like Blood and gore then Slaughterhouse may not be the maze for you [Although if you really pay attention to the theme, the maze itself tells a story with blood and gore as a side piece... What other maze can you get auctioned off to the highest bidder, treated like cattle, and walk into an meat grinder all while ending at the gift shop]... but there is always Cornstalkers, Dia De Los Muertos, Uncle Bobo's, Labyrinth, The Mine Train, etc that do not focus purely on blood and gore... yes there may be a few instances with some but blood and gore to balance it out but it is not the main focus in those mazes... And on scare zones, there are plenty of them to enjoy yourself in... and dont like the mazes... Well they offer many entertaining shows during haunt and the Knotts Berry Farm rides... Honestly... Haunt is more than a "Pro" because it offers everything Knotts Berry Farm does, only with so much more added into it... Haunt is the most amazing event Knotts can pull off And 2010 is only going to get better!

[But I'm pretty good with the information, if I do say so myself. And you can hit me all you want with Walt Disney World.])

    Re: Compare Knotts to Disneyland

One, about cleanliness.....Knott's has been very well kept up, near spotless, all my recent past visits (2 or so in past year).

Second....not everyone thinks Knott's Halloween event is a con, or having blood and gore and scary content. I prefer Knott's Halloween Haunt to the Disneyland offerings, even though on a whole I like Disneyland better. The gore thing is a personal taste and subjective, not a solid fact in favor of one or the other.

Besides, the parks are different entirely in aim and focus. For me, honestly, at this point, Knott's Ghost Town is better and more detailed than Frontierland, but Disneyland is stronger as an overall park. The areas outside the Western bits don't match up at all enough to be judged against one another.

    I've seen this at Disneyland.

Well Knotts and Disneyland are two VERY different parks. I enjoy both and I don't think its fair to compare the two.

BUT I will say that Ghost Town at Knotts stomps Frontier land into the ground.

    Re: Compare Knotts to Disneyland

It's already been said. Haunt is a pro. If anything, Disneyland not having a true Haunt is a con. I think it's making it's way there but for now, the Halloween festivities just ain't scary or serious enough. It's aimed at families but I want an after dark, after hours event just for adults at Disneyland that is scarier than anything we've ever witnessed because if anyone could do it, it's Disneyland. Until then, USH will provide the premium, quality Haunt experience while Knotts is putting out their "we were the first so we're the classic and original", quantity beats quality product.

I think Knott's now has better food (unless you count the DL hotel restaurants and DTD restaurants). There are more nice quiet parts of Knott's although I do miss the lake. I think Knott's does have a certain charm and the owners seem to have put some money recently into the show elements instead of spending all their money on thrill rides.
