Thought I would share some photos from my visit to Europe. In the absolute heart of Paris is Notre Dame.
I'd give you a little history lesson from what I learned during my visit but I have a short attention span and was distracted by all the pretty things. "Ooo a piece of candy. Ooo a piece of candy. Ooo a piece of candy."
We took a tour of the famous Bell Towers
Me touching zee bell
The courtyard below (infront of the cathedral) Which is actually the roof of notre dame's crpyt museum.
After a bazillion stairs down...
All those stairs and my shoe was untied. Jeez!
I only took a few photos under notre dame.
I guess one thing I remembered was that the Notre Dame you see today has been slightly modified (other than the obvious, electricity etc) There are no more stairs in front of the doors. (Thanks to the museum that is in the crypt beneath the street, and the nearby metro station) The heads of the statues have been broken off during riots/wars/rebellion etc over hundreds of years. The broken pieces lay in another museum a few kilometers over. They’re held in the same location as the famous Lady and the Unicorn tapestries (which you can see in the background in Harry Potter’s Gryffindor House) but I digress.
