Glad to hear Deep, Deep Trouble went over well! I'd heard from some of cast that it seemed to be suffering, so I'm glad to hear that wasn't the case (at least from a guest perspective).

I'm also looking forward to the new House of Douse. At least they'll get a couple of practice runs in before the big Busch event Monday night!

LOL! I'll tell them you said so. Looks like the mermaid costume looks fairly different than some of the concept art I remember seeing - and that is a huge relief.

Are you gonna be there tomorrow night (Sat) for HoD and fireworks? I'm planning on sticking around after work to check it out, so long as the weather holds...

Nope, headed up to Disneyland for the weekend (well, that, and my Girlfriend

Hopefully will make it sometime during the week...

Met up with Kameko at the previews last night, had to explain to my girlfriend that we were together at one of her favorite restaurants... :o

I figured out who was the mermaid, but it did take awhile... hiding her ponytail didn't help....

Hey, maybe THAT is why I have a crush on Ariel... I grew up in San Diego (Native OB'er), and maybe it was all the mermaids at the old Star Kist show, and the OLD Dolphin show.... (When it was located where Cirque de la Mer is now)

I was trying to figure out who it was from your pics, too. I have an idea, but it's hard to tell.

I'll probably be working a lot next week (with the longer hours, we'll have 3 characters + 3 escorts at Main Gate all week) so if you stop by, say hi!

Just got back from an evening at the park.

Deep, Deep Trouble... well, I'll give it time. I wasn't overly impressed with it. I felt like the people took too much of the spotlight in a sea lion show, and the animals were just side characters. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for awhile here, because I know that the animals have just recently been able to start working on the stage. It could be that they're just not ready for the full show yet. But we'll see what happens over the next several weeks. And as for the vulture... they need to just cut that. It's so random. It felt like they just brought in the vulture because they could, not because it forwarded the plot at all. And it was only for like 30 non-essential seconds at the start of the show, then never seen again. On the plus side, I really loved the set. Wonderful effects!

As for the new House of Douse, IMHO it's a step up from previous years! Still not up to the level of something like Orlando's Shamu Rocks America, but at least they're starting to move away from the snooze-inducing techno. The tribute to America segment in the middle was really sweet, where they start off by showing the Super Bowl ad with the soldiers in the airport. I'm not really a fan of seeing ads in the middle of a show, but this one worked, and the crowd seemed to agree. Other than that, it was nice to see a blooper reel in there that was at least new to me. One thumb up on this one - it's worth seeing, IMHO.

I have pics from both shows up at http://xfkirsten.fotopic.net

Orcatime, I just got the dreaded "thanks but we hired somebody else" letter. Just goes to show that even with thirty years of experience in the business you might not be what Busch is looking for.................

Dude, I'm so sorry. I know what you're feeling. I know the opportunity for what we want to do is somewhere along those lines even if we're looking in San Diego and the opportunity could be in.....Orlando. (the eternal optimist that I am )
