An interactive destination that celebrates the world of entertainment and the history of Hollywood like none other. Tour the actual sets of "Cheers," "Star Trek - Voyager" and "The X-Files," visit the exclusive Max Factor Collection, journey through a diversity of exhibitions, artifacts and memorabilia that reveals treasures from motion pictures, television and all the entertainment arts.

Hours: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. daily



The Museum is located two blocks west of the Hollywood and Highland Complex and the Mann's Chinese Theater.

OMG! I absolutly loved this museum! I wish I had more notice, I was planning on visiting again in August. I loved seeing the Cheers Bar last time I was there. I wonder what will become of it...

That really is too bad. With Ripleys and the Wax Museum, the Entertainment Museum was a better step in the right direction.

There is a fantastic documentary about this museum. It was part of the PBS series "Great Museums" they still run it occasionally. Also, one of the "Cheers" DVD sets has a visit to the bar.

I really loved this museum, I was always hoping they would move, rather than close. The Hollywood Galaxy complex is otherwise deserted and could be made into a great place if some new tenents show up. Maybe some of their artifacts will be sent over to the Hollywood History Museum.

Back in 2003 the musueum hosted Monday Night Football at the Cheers Bar. It was really amazing. I hope the set is kept together someplace.

I emailed the museum off their website and got an email back that reads in part:

Fortunately, the closure is only temporary: withinthe next couple years the Museum will be up and running in a new,expanded location yet to be determined. In the interim, the Cheers setand all other exhibits will be in storage. Please check our website forupdates

Let me read into that what I think it says...

We lost our lease, and have to pack up and get the heck out of Dodge.

We currently can't find, or don't have enough money to open in a new location.

We hope that we can get our act together and reopen, but no promises.

AKA, if you want to make sure and see the sets, get there before the end of the month....

Thanks for the glass half full side of things.

I have heard rumors for a couple of years that different parties wanted to buy the Galaxy (including Virgin who instead bought right down the street.) So it is possible that they are being "forced out" by a much bigger tennant. I also have heard of a new Hollywood tourist complex opening in late '07 on Sunset Blvd. Perhaps they are hoping to get a spot there.

I'm so sad to hear this news. When I took a trip to California I made sure to visit the museum since it had the set from the x-files and am I huge fan. When I went though there were only four people in our tour group and they usually don't let anyone step inside the X-files set, but the guy knew I was huge fan and let me step inside. So I have a great shot sitting in Mulder's chair!

Does the Cheers set have the other side, like the entrance door? Is Rebecca/Sam's office really there or is it an empty shell?

It looks like they took out the payphone that was a payoff for some of Cliff's jokes.

Thank you for the pictures! I never even knew this place existed and I am very sorry I never got the chance to visit. It's so awesome to see the set of Cheers still around and intact (at least for the time being), it was such a great show.

It's actually the complete set. It includes the door and even the stairs in the back and I know I have some pictures of them somewhere, my mom may have them though. The phone is not there but they do have sam's office which was pretty cool to see. The guy who took us on the tour said that sometimes they would have parties there or people would reserve the set for parties.

Good thing my friends saw it last time they were here. They're huge Star Trek fans. I'm sad to see it close and I do hope they re-open somewhere else.
