The High In The Sky Seuss Trolley Passholder Preview (with pictures)

Today I went with my boyfriend for the passholder preview the new ride at IOA. It's a people mover type attraction and while it was cute I thought it was way to short (only about a minute or two long).

    (click for larger images)

While in the line you could see the trains coming from and to the station.

While in a line is a cute photo opportunity for a family for everyone to be in the picture. Even the photographer!

While making your way through the line you could read the story of the sneetches complete with illustrations of course!

    The loading area.

    Leaving the loading area

There are two different color tracks on the attraction each complete with their own path. Our was the teal track which went through the resturant...

And over the rest of Dr.Seuss Island

coming back to the station you can see here the other track and also the sneetches.

    Shot of the teal track.

The purple track goes around the Caroseussel and near Cat in the Hat while the teal track stays towards the other side and goes over the water. I also noticed while going over the water they added some sneetch figures in the water as if they were swimming. Very cute.

Hmm. So the big question: Was it worth the 7 year wait? And do you think this will really effect UO's attendance slide?

7 years for this? No, it was a let down.

I don't think it will affect the attendance slide. It might help a bit, but level off after just a short time. When we left today though the line had grown to a 100 minute wait.

I don't think it was really put in there to boost attendance that much. It just isn't the kind of ride that will do that. I was let down by the video I saw earlier. It was only two minutes long and had very little interaction. Had it been a 5 to 10 minute ride around the area it would have been worth it.

I get the feeling it was just put in to have something on those tracks, and that is a good thing though. It's not as good as them getting a real new attraction, but at least they finally put something there.

I'm still in shock that this ride is going to be open to the public soon. I remember visiting IOA in January of 2001 and hearing stories from Seuss Landing CMs stating that it would most likely never open. Great photos! Thanks for sharing your experience...

Maybe not boost, but it is being banked on helping.

I do enjoy Universal, but I don't get that same feeling in the pit of my stomach like I do when I visit Disney, at least the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. To me Universal is on par with The Animal Kingdom and MGM. Neither of those parks gives me that anticipation feeling in my stomach of excitement even though I enjoy my time there.

Universal tries to not grab that fantasy element to their parks that the Magic Kingdom has, but to me it's what they're missing. I want to feel like a kid again, and I get that at Disney, I don't at Universal. There's nothing like seeing the castle appear before you or SSE and that feeling you get. Universal has nothing like that.

I'm glad to see them trying to make IOA more family friendly as I think the teen image they've been courting actually hurts them. When I think of IOA my comparison goes more to Six Flags than Disney. That's not where they want to be compared, at least I wouldn't think so. Compared to Six Flags they win hands down, but they fall flat against Disney.

I'm not bashing Universal, I have some good memories from there, but they're striking out on the one thing that makes people come back time and time again to Disney, and I think that's the "Feel like a kid" factor.

I love how that arch had to be cut out to allow the train to fit with the new track. The coaster track looks odd on top of the I-Beams.

^ haha, they didn't even bother to paint the arch yet. Maybe the track looks weird on the i beam cause the rest of the land looks more cartoony, where as here it's straight and industrial... does that even make any sense to anybody??
