The winning elements in Genting's Resorts World at Sentosa
Posted: 08 December 2006 1945 hrs
The bid by Infinity@The Bay Pte Ltd, a Joint Venture Company between Genting International & Star Cruises (“Genting”) to develop the Integrated Resort (IR) on Sentosa, has been described an excellent IR development that will strengthen Singapore’s overall appeal to visitors, positioning Sentosa and Singapore firmly as a top-of-mind, fun and exciting family destination.
In a news release, the Singapore Tourism Board said that the bids received from Genting, Kerzner CapitaLand Integrated Resorts Pte Ltd and Eighth Wonder Pte Ltd underwent rigorous evaluation of both the qualitative and quantitative factors, and Genting had submitted the best proposal overall.
The Resorts World at Sentosa design is a collection of resorts within a resort so visitors can have a multi-resort experience.
The anchor family leisure attractions include The Universal Studios Singapore Theme Park, The Quest Marine Life Park, The Equarius Water Park, The Maritime Xperiential Museum, and other entertainment offerings located along FestiveWalk.
Universal Studios will have its largest theme park in Asia at Resorts World at Sentosa offering 22 attractions within seven themed worlds, of which 16 will be specially designed for Singapore.
It will be developed at the east side of the IR site, using the theme “Ride the movies” and the attractions will be comparable to those found in Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure.

Sounds good.
Re: Universal Studios Singapore.
Watch the video on that page. You can see Hulk and the Mummy & Spiderman get named. You enter the park through the Hollywood hills (under the sign) and then go through a covered Hollywood Boulevard.
It looks nice.
Re: Universal Studios Singapore.
Gee... I wonder how the Disney negotiations for the Singapore 'park' are going?

Re: Universal Studios Singapore.
This park should be interesting, since it combine IOA, USF, and USH into combined park. Plus there are oringal attractions and rides. I hope that some of the new attraction make it back to the states.
Re: Universal Studios Singapore.
Disney was in Shanghai...when were they talking to Singapore?
Yes I do find the whole IoA + Universal mix interesting, especially since the bits that made it to USJ seem to work well.
Though I think while the glass roof works over Hollywood Boulevard...I think it looks akward over Egypt and SuperHero land.

Don't remember the 'park in a box' topic that Al Lutz wrote about previously? The concept which some were speculating that the Harry Potter theme park rights would be utilized for? An indoor multi-level 'interactive entertainment center' the size of a city block, the Disney theme park of the future? That's what Singapore was supposed to be.
And from what I've heard, those negotiations for a Singapore park are now DOA.
Re: Universal Studios Singapore.
I love the concept... popeyes bluto barge being re themed to Madagascar is great... so much IOA built in with the studios is brilliant!!

Some concept art on Screamscape. Could be fun, but like IoA looks landlocked and built out at opening.
