Took the grand kids to see the floats. Two things you don't get from TV. The flower smell and the crowds.

We were going to go, but the weather report last night predicted wind so we decided against it. Looks like you had a good time, good photos.
How was the wind, or was there any wind?
BTW: What time of day did you go?

What is, is... What is not, is not.
Boom!
I don't ask for much... Just a few little things!
Extra effort yields extraordinary results!
I'm going with my Mom soon to check out the floats. I just hope this cold doesn't stop me from smelling the roses ... LOL!
Love your pictures!
Thanks for the awesome pictures. I went to look at the floats one year and it is something I will always remember
So, was it worth going?? I keep hearing both sides.
Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!
It was not windy, it was very nice. We got there about 11 and left at 4. Expect to pay $10 to $12 for parking. and $7 per person to get in. Not much food, hot dogs and churrios for the most part.
They were cycling the animation on the floats. Turned one on and let run an hour then start an other one.
we did that one year when I was a kid. We would not do it again.
my best memories are when i was a teen and decorating the floats. That as way fun. We also got to spend the night in pasadena to "guard" the floats. Peopel like to try and pick the flowers off, but there a lot of floats parked in one location and the whole street was a party. It was very fun.![]()
I went to see the floats about 15 years ago. At that time you could see them for a donation of a buck or two. I helped to decorate the Downey float this year which won the Founders Trophy! The float is decorated in an old warehouse in Downey so one doesn't have to go to Pasadena. Plus they'll let anyone do it as long as a release form is filled out.
We went to the parade on Monday morning and I was surprised at how easy it was to get there and NOT have to sleep overnight on the street. I've lived in So Cal all my life and had never been before! The weather was perfect and we had a great time. Unfortunately my photos are on my other computer. I'll try and get a few pics up later
A signature should go here.
I've gone to the parade for 21 years now, and I've also gone many times to the float viewing afterward. I gotta say that going to the parade is much better than going and seeing the floats parked. If you ever get the chance to decorate a float, go for it! It makes you all the more happy when you see it roll down Colorado!
Great pictures, Ranger Rick!![]()
I worked on the Downey float too! and I have worked on it for the last 6 years... I'm glad they finally won this year!
