Howdy.

It was incredibly hot and humid today in Williamsburg, VA. It was almost like being home in Orlando - almost.

Anyways, here are some pics I took today. It was my first time at Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Lots of trees. If you were a dog, this would be heaven.

Lots of twisted metal. Can you imagine if Frank Gehry designed a roller coaster? (think Walt Disney Concert Hall)

You know what's inside that building? A SKYWAY! Yes, a WORKING skyway (but not today). Get with the program Disney.




As you enter the park you go through Merry 'Ol England.

Very peaceful. I honestly can not imagine how crazy that place would be with crowds though. The walkways are VERY narrow.





Oh, if you think the park is flat think again. Lots of minor inclines.

i love BGW... yes its huge and nature is grown within attractions to enhance the experience.

Very nice. I went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and really enjoyed it. I also loved walking through the Colonial town.

It is a very nice park. The "World Showcase" area is very nicely themed. The setting is great as well since the terrain follows valleys and hills and it is a hike to get around in some areas.

Oooh, thanks for sharing your photos! I've been to Busch Gardens in Tampa, but not Williamsburg - would love to one day, though. It's gorgeous!

Does it feel like the World Showcase at Epcot?

The same, better, not as good?

even though its only about 2hrs from me.. I haven't been in like 25 years! Loc Ness was the only coaster and I was too small for it

I was only there long enough to walk all of the way around the park one time, which is funny considering I have been working in Williamsburg on and off for the past 6 years, and I have a Sea World Platinum pass so I could go any time they are open. I don't think I was there long enough to really give it a chance, so I am going to have to withhold my opinion.

That being said, Busch Gardens is very, very natural - plants, trees and flowers are everywhere. The shops actually have unique things for sale, instead of the same things over and over again. They had a large variety of food, and I doubt you could find fresher beer anywhere (considering there is a brewery next to the park).

I think if you did a poll among the general population (non Disney fanatics), Busch Gardens Williamsburg would win hands down.

Oh, one thing, I do think that the detail of the buildings at World Showcase surpasses the detail at Busch Gardens. There ARE exceptions, but generally, EPCOT wins in that category.

On a totally separate note, I drove from JFK airport to the northern outskirts of Philadelphia in 2 hours. Yes, 2 hours. And I am not a race car driver. It amazes me because growing up in Los Angeles I never really understood how close cities were in the northeast.

Until there is a blip on the road and then you take ages

I-95 is direct.. its just insane volume. The stretch between DC and Richmond is really bad for no reason what-so-ever. Volume goes up and traffic halts.. its not even accidents. Just backups due to incompetence

its because the road cannot handle the volume of traffic going from Richmond to DC for buisness.. they need a better bypass road to handle it.. I usually take a nice scenic route.. cause my grandmother lives not too far we go over the river near the shipyards and can take colonial parkway.. then interstate for a mile or so then enter BGW....

?? bypass road for the interstate?

It idiots could learn to drive without speeding up and slowing down constantly.. which is what causes the backups (people hitting their brakes).. the throughput would be much higher.

The road is nearly perfectly straight for like 50 miles with little interruption.. yet it gets more backed up then the roads leading up to it.

Its not the same because you cant see the other countries from the lagoon. I like BGE better but thats just me. Also there are parts of BGE that arnt themed to look like the country like Festa Italia is themed to a fair.
