Universal VIP Tour - 160 Photos and Report

    http://www.mousesteps.com/index.php?...id=6&Itemid=41

Really a super tour, I enjoyed it more than any other tour I've taken. A portion of the photos are attraction photos (I'd not been to Uni Hollywood before). Then the backstage pictures. I loved walking on a few sets - like the Bates Motel, and then this area from Pirates of the Caribbean:

I don't think that USH is a great park - just so-so for me. But I would definitely do the tour again when I'm in CA! The park was really crowded that day, so it was very nice to get into the attractions quickly!

I agree, the universal park is kind of dull. But the VIP tour is absolutly amazing, I am definatly going to do it again.

The tour brought me into a park I have never ventured to, and wouldn't except in this type of case. I plan to be back in California within the year again with my husband, and I'd like to do the VIP tour this time during the week. Sunday made sense this time for me, but I'd like to see the lot when it's hopping!

I can't recommend it highly enough. (Just eat first!) I know I said that a couple of times during the report. Also, they did give us cold bottled water during the tour, I need to add that! Being able to walk around a few sets, that was one of the highlights of the trip to CA (that and being able to ride the Lilly Belle).

My family too the VIP tour in July and absolutely loved it! It included free annual passes, which we upgraded. I like Universal. It's a nice change from DLR... a little slower paced. IF you take the VIP tour, I recommend asking for Ira Gold. He is very passionate about the studio and a lot of fun.

We weren't offered free AP's - which was okay, I'm not local. And I'd like to do the VIP tour again next time, with DH - during the week, to possibly see a little filming too. I will remember to ask for Ira next time, though he wasn't there at the time I was for my tour.

My guide wasn't bad - but not passionate per se either. I don't even want to describe him, in case anyone else gets him a guide (because anyone who does might like him just fine!) But the tour itself just kicked butt, and the park is okay - but we have a number of the attractions here too. I did like seeing the mountains from the park. Pretty scenery! The food was decent, but I didn't like the carnival area so much. It is definitely a different park, and I very much appreciate the history of Universal.

Because we went during the week, there were certain things that we didn't get to see, like the inside of a soundstage, promised on their website. We DID get to go to the Foley stage, and see some sound studios, which was fun for me being a musician. If we do the tour again, I would do a weekend so we might be able to see some of the things we missed. Wasn't the prop department awesome??

I loved the props department! We didn't get to the Foley stage. Did you see any filming during the week?

I like that each tour can be very different.

Oh - I also have Walk in Walts Footsteps tour pics up. I had posted that elsewhere a few days back. I really enjoyed the Lilly Belle, and going into the lobby of Club 33. But the Universal tour was outstanding!

I really can't wait to do this one again.

We didn't see any filming taking place on the VIP tour, but we did a few weeks later on the regular tour. Our guide said it's rare to be able to visit the Foley stage. It's usually in use. A week later I saw the same stage on the Disney Channel. Very cool.

A friend of mine said that summer actually isn't the best time for seeing any filming, not as much as other times of the year. But that was fine - I really enjoyed the tour anyway! I would love to be able to visit the Foley stage too, but our guide gave us a good rundown on it. The Props department was amazing!

I really want to do the tour again, it was just so much fun. I am looking forward to looking at some movies that include the places we saw on the tour (like the fountain from the monster movies, and old Mexico, etc.)

    Thanks, Denise!

Thanks MickeyMaxx! I really can't say enough good things about the tour. I would love to get back to DL this year, maybe do the holiday tour and head back to Universal and do that again!

My site started out being more about fitness at Disney, and that is a direction I plan to explore much further this year. But it's sort of branching out in a few other directions. Thank you very much for the nice comments!!! I try to do as much as I can, I've just got my two feet and a camera - and a DH who knows about computers and websites, thank goodness!

I found this site recently, for those who want more history about USH...

    Lots of good trivia there.

who was your tour guide? i used to work closely with a lot of the VIP Experience guides. they're a great group of people!

glad to hear you enjoyed yourself. your pictures are awesome! you know, the view you like so much? that's the view that E.T. sees in the movie 'e.t.'.

if you take the tour during the week, be prepared for not getting onto wisteria lane. they only open that on the weekends because they are not filming.

    thanks for this report!!
