Federal Heights — Hyland Hills Water World got even bigger this morning with the opening of TurboRacer, an eight-track water slide that shoots patrons at up to 22 mph on 410 feet of track.
"This is the funnest ride here, I think," said Scotty Backman, 47, a race-car driver from the Colorado National Speedway, who joined seven other people in being the first racers.
At 61 feet tall, the ride is touted by Water World as the tallest of its kind in the world. Riders lay on their bellies on a blue foam mat and slide through a tube and sharp turns.
"You get some air when you come out of the tube," Backman said. A line of hundreds of eager riders snaked along a sidewalk next to the attraction, some waiting since 10 a.m. for New Ride
