San Diego/Coronado on LABOR DAY WEEKEND

    Hello MiceChatters!

On Friday, August 31 - after radiation treatment - my wife and son and I headed to San Diego to use our '2nd day' of our Sea World tickets purchased last October.

Here is a little trip report with pictures from Friday Night at Sea World and Saturday in Coronado (which was my son's FIRST TIME playing in the sand and in the ocean - what better place to do that than on the shores of Hotel Del Coronado!)

It was a nice get away from the 115 degree heat of Corona. However, San Diego was in the upper 90's and QUITE humid.....

    And so....we begin:

Grant all ready for the ride to San Diego

    Mrs. Disneyland Daddy

...and of course, the chauffer - Yours Truly

UGH! The lovely southbound 5 Freeway......somewhere after San Onofre...

FINALLY! Grant and I outside the Shark Encounter

I felt like I was in Amity Island for awhile!

Grant and Mommy's photo op with a Manatee 'statue' of sorts

I wouldn't mess with this tough guy!

Grant and I in a 'mock' ice cavern in Wild Arctic

I guess it's OK that Grant was touching the bear since he can't read "Do Not Touch" - HA HA

And the show we had been waiting for! Shamu Rocks!

Grant was totally intrigued with the show!

    END OF DAY 1

    DAY 2:

Grant gets a bath before we leave to Coronado - he got so full of sand, makes me think he should have had the bath AFTER...

Mommy and Grant at Marie Callendar's awaiting our breakfast/lunch

Grant hits the beach with Daddy - FIRST TIME experiencing sand and ocean!!!

Grant decides to sit.....and proceeded to EAT sand....

Mommy and Grant with Hotel Del Coronado behind them.

Grant hangs out on Daddys' shoulders. He's at a point now where he really likes to be on my shoulders - and play 'bongos' on my head

Our FEET IN THE SAND shot....a remembrance of Grant's time at the beach....love this shot.

I got down and dirty and just laid down in the sand belly first and played with Grant. Fun stuff...

    Daddy and Son

Thank God for Hotel Del Coronado - I LOVE this place!

Loving the sand now....not so foreign...

Playing in the whitewash - or brown sandy wash....

    Daddy and son footprint

And that concludes our stay on Coronado......we drove over to Seaport Village and drove through the Gaslamp District - love it. Didn't take many pictures in Seaport Village...so I'll end it with this photo of a fountain we saw:

Whitest guy on the beach? Well, I did see a 'glow' coming from the area in which you speak! HA HA kidding..........if there was a "glow", it would have been from me because of my radiation!
