Knott's Berry Farm History

LOL, I hate that i'm one of the only ones on this site that seems to love Knott's Berry Farm history on here. Im sure people here on this site remember the classic Knotts before the 1997 merger with Cerdar Fair. Knott's was the best California theme park next to Disneyland. I still remember tons of rides I used to go on when i was kid and some that are beyond my years.

Those are some great pics, there! I totally miss and loved Jungle Island as a kid. There was also a small lake near Jungle Island, which I also believe had paddle boats on the small lake?

The Tijuana Taxi and Jungle Island Train both live on at Castle Park in Riverside, CA.

I ride Corkscrew every year at Silverwood, for old time's sake.

One of Corkscrew's trains is now the rolling stock for Boomerang.

I love Knott's too. And its history. I think as a lifelong native a person is really selling themselves short if they don't have at least a fondness for Knott's somewhere in their hearts. That place is/was a little gem. And for me at least I like it just as much as it's more elaborate neighbor in Anaheim.

Electroblast was fun!

We got to see one of the very last performances as a special VIP treat at Solace before it was removed.

I remember panning for gold there . I also remember that there was a prospector in a shed around that area. He was not real though, of course .

That guy in the jail is still there to talk to you.

Along with the volcano, I remember the small devil the back that controlled it. As well as the candy shop in the back of the Marketplace where you could watch taffy being made.

The biggest detail I miss is the leg of the Can Can girl that dangled out a 2nd story window and would kick everytime someone passed by.

Another detail I miss: across from the bumper cars, there was a door with a peep window marked "Private Club". If the rang the doorbell, a face would pop out from the peep window and say "Go away, it's private." It was a one line joke, but it totally came out of nowhere. The door is still there, and if you hit the doorbell now, you get to hear raucous 20's party music coming from inside.

I remember panning for gold. Only went to Knotts once back in 1986 but I remember having a lot of fun that day.

Wow, this photo stirs up some old memories. I've never been to Knott's, but this photo reminds me of a similar room that they used to have at Six Flags in Dallas.

And I disagree with your first, rather flippant remark. If you are basing that simply on the fact that many of the original attractions are gone, you could also conclude that Disneyland has also really gone to hell (in fact, many people do argue that). And if you are not basing it on that, then maybe you could elaborate your thoughts a little more.

This is a thread to discuss Knott's history, not to bash it's current state. Please go somewhere else for that.
