Opus Archives: Lillian Disney At Walt's TV Hall Of Fame Awards

For those that have never seen or heard her on film or video, here's some rare footage from the Opus Archives of the somewhat reclusive wife of Walt Disney, in an equally rare public appearance and short acceptance speech at the 3rd Annual Television Hall of Fame awards ceremony in 1986. The clip also features Walt & Lillian's grandsons, Christopher and Walter, escorting Lillian up to the podium. This is preceded by highlights of Walt's career narrated by Dick Van Dyke.

That certainly was a brief acceptance speech. I've always found it difficult really get a sense of what her feelings about Walt were after he died.

Thanks for posting that, Opus! I remember seeing that when it aired. Lillian looked lovely, and at age 19 I formed a major crush on Walter Miller, that's for sure!

A few years later Lillian and Diane appeared on the KTLA morning news to refute the "Dark Prince" book. They were both furious and wanted to take the chance to answer the allegations put forward in the book. It was an excellent interview. Does anyone else remember it?
