characters allowed at weddings?

I'm helping a friend do a bit of research for Wikipedia, and I have a few questions.

Specifically, which characters are allowed at Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings? Disney's official site lists only a few, but I know the selection is not limited to those because I've heard about people having characters other than those on the list.

I've heard that certain characters, specifically the Pooh ones, are not allowed due to licensing restrictions. I am pretty sure this is the case, because several posts on Disboards confirm this. However, when my friend added this information to Wikipedia, another user reverted his edit, saying that this information was "unsourced." Does anyone know of any official Disney sites or pamphlets which state that Pooh characters are not allowed?

I've been told that Pixar characters are not allowed as well, but I don't think this is true (at least not for all of them) because a CM who posts on Disboards said that there was a wedding that had Buzz Lightyear.

Another thing I've heard is that princesses are not allowed at weddings because they "distract" people from the bride, but I don't think this is the case because I've read reports about weddings being attended by Cinderella and Jasmine. However, I've never heard of weddings that had Ariel or Sleeping Beauty. Are these characters just unpopular, or are they unavailable for weddings?

Also, according to mouseweddings.com, only Mickey and Minnie are allowed at DL weddings. Is this true?

Finally, are Fairy Tale weddings only offered at DL and WDW, or are they offered at the two other parks (TDL and HKDL) as well?

Thanks in advance!

Re: characters allowed at weddings?

As a former Character, I can tell you that 'we' are very protective of our Characters and their exposure. However, Disney's Fantasy Weddings are a 'paid for' event. So simply contact them and ask if you may request the presence of Characters not on the list. Be specific as to which ones you would like to be present. Remember, it's not a good idea to have the Characters 'hanging around' indefinitely. Schedule them for a short term purpose. Maybe 30 to 40 minutes, 2 sets max. You may find a more favorable answer to your request if you do this. Good luck and congratulations!

No, I'm not getting married, LOL. I'm just helping out someone who likes editing Wikipedia.

I've heard that you can only get the wedding mickey & minnie. People have not been able to get specific characters in the past. Good luck!

Like most things at WDW, and in life for that matter, if you drop enough coin, just about anything is possible.

Take for example the Pooh characters. Lets say there is a contractural agreement with the estate of AA Milne for some reason. If you wanted Pooh at your wedding badly enough, and had the money, I am sure you could get someone at Disney to contact the estate and work out a deal, where maybe you donate a wing to a college in the name of the Estate or some such skulldruggery.

Disney has a reputation of going above and beyond for its guest, provided of course that the guests have the clout.

I can speak from experience working with Fairy Tale Weddings, at Disneyland, the only characters allowed are Mickey and Minnie. This is not true of Walt Disney World though, I know you're able to have other characters there such as Lilo and Stitch, but I don't know about the Winnie the Pooh characters.

At WDW, from what I know, there's no limit to the variety of characters you can get aside from Pooh and friends.

Here at Disneyland, I've heard it's only Mickey and Minnie.

I have self esteem, which is pretty amazing, because I'm someone who wouldn't necessarily have a lot of self esteem as I am considered a minority. And if you are a woman, if you are a person of color, if you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, if you are a person of size, if you are a person of intelligence, if you are a person of integrity, then you are considered a minority in this world. And it's going to be really hard to find messages of self-love and support anywhere. It's all about how you have to look a certain way, or else you're worthless. You know, when you look in the mirror and think, "Ugh, I'm so fat, I'm so old, I'm so ugly." Don't you know that's not your authentic self? But that is billions upon billions of dollars of advertising. Magazines, movies, billboards, all geared to make you feel crappy about yourself, so you will take your hard earned money and spend it at the mall on some turn-around creme that doesn't turn around anything.

When you don't have self esteem, you will hesitate to do anything in your life. You will hesitate to go for the job you really want to go for. You will hesitate to ask for a raise. You will hesitate to call yourself an American. You will hesitate to report a rape. You will hesitate to defend yourself when you are discriminated against because of your race, your sexuality, your size, your gender. You will hesitate to vote. You will hesitate..... to dream. For us to have self esteem is truly an act of revolution, and our revolution is long overdue." - Margaret Cho

For the amount of money it cost for a Disney wedding you should be able to pick what ever characters you want to be present at the wedding.

Technically, no Disney characters are permitted to appear at any wedding ceremony. They cannot attend the actual wedding, they may only be booked to appear at the reception.

Yup. From my last talk with a wedding planner, it's $75 per half hour per character and they're pretty open to what characters can come.
