Question Universal Studios.. in August?!

(Universal Studios Hollywood that is)

To go or not to go?

How are the lines in August?
Just how hot is it there?
How are the crowds?

I've been invited to go with a couple friends who have passes next week. I do not have a pass but used to so I've done the park several times. I usually avoid it in the summer due to the extreme heat but I'm considering it this time.

It will be hot, it will be crowded and there will be long lines. Just depends on how much you want to go with your friends. If you do go get there when it opens and go on Simpsons. I bet that line will be huge.

Have fun!

Actually, there have been reports that there haven't been seriously large crowds this summer. That is not to say that's it's going to be empty... there will be people... but probably not masses. The line for Simpsons seems to average 45-50 minutes, which really isn't all that bad for the peak of summer & and new ride.

Plus, if it does get hot, cool off on Jurassic Park/Summer Spash edition. You'll get plenty wet.

If you do go, I would ride Simpsons as early as possible, and then immediately head to the lower lot as soon as possible. Then you can ride Mummy and Jurassic many times over before the rest of the park makes it down there. The line for House of Horrors will be non-existent later on in the day, so pass it up in the morning, as well as the Studio Tour proper.

Here's my routine. Ride Simpson's then got to the lower lot. Go on all the rides there and then come up for lunch. After lunch ride the back lot tour to relax. You'll have a good time, hopefully Mother Nature won't fry you.

That's our general strategy as well. Seems to work pretty good.
