![]() | Improving Knott's Berry Farm:Knott's Bear-y Tales revival If there was ever a petition or anything I would vote for the return of The wonderful Dark Ride since It Was like A home I lived in for so many years.I've been with the bears for a very long time In the boisenberry smelling attraction. But now the bears are long gone and recycled as Knott's Scary Farm props. In order for Knott's To be A good place again.Knott's Bear-y Tales would be a good place to start to Make Knott's Berry Farm A family park again since the park has'nt been over the top for a decade. If anyone ever created a petition or myself I would sign it and have thousands of people to support for the return of the Red Line.Knott's Bear-y Tales should be back in the same space again instead of A coaster. If it came back I would love to see the ride re-done again.I miss the black lights, the frogs, bears, smell, and the wonderful music. I hope someday this would be a Possibility For Knott's to be Great Again. Last edited by Bear-y Tales fan; 12-24-2008 at 08:32 PM. |

![]() | Re: Bring back Knott's Bear-y Tales! We would visit Knott's once every couple of years when I was much younger. It's been almost 10yrs now since my last visit. But what I have missed the most was the Knott's Bear-y Tales. Except for the log ride, there is not much left of it's Uniqueness. Heck, I don't even know if they still sell Knott's Berry Punch!

![]() | Re: Bring back Knott's Bear-y Tales! Soap Box Derby racers was the perfect family ride... so perfect that everyone enjoyed it! And almost everyone could ride it... I have so many childhood memories of them and who could forget those weird weasels that were always along the tracks and those tunnels. So many awesome memories! I dont ever make a big stink regarding Xcelerator because it fits the 1950's hot rod Boardwalk type of theme and it is one of those coasters with a pretty looking color sceme and OMG! It doesnt "ruin" the Knotts experience as far as theme goes IMO [anything was better than Windcrapper Surf Racers] but seriously... Xcelerator is not a grown up substitute for the Soap Box racers! It just doesnt have the "family aspect" the racers had where just like the Timber Mountain log ride 4 family members or friends could sit together and race along the track against the other people on the other tracks and somehow everyone reached the end close to the same time! Plus some of those smaller dips were fun along with those turns in the track... it felt like racing. I remember being 5 years old and going on them. Then Knotts used to have some Autopia type of attraction with Classic Cars that would go under the soap box Derby track. Though they removed those when I was really young so I only experienced those maybe once or so. The Haunted Shack was one of my favorites and I was so sad when they took it out! And unlike Xcelerator, I do have to gripe about what replaced it because I fail to see how some large swingset really fits the Ghost Town theme like the Haunted Shack did. If they were going to take out the Haunted Shack and replace it with some thrill ride at least they should have replaced it with some thrill ride with a Western theme that blended in with the buildings around it]. Plus what made the Haunted Shack so awesome was the slanted floors, the optical illusions, not to mention whoever was in there presenting from room to room would take people in the viewing area and get them in on the illusions! I know one time my sister got to stand on the little wooden block and put her arms out... and then someone else in our group was taken to do the thing with the Pool Ball and gutter... I forget how the effect worked or what the effect was but it involved a gutter, water, and a pool ball and someone sitting near it! If they were to ever build these things [even though we know its unlikely knowing Cedar Fair], they should seriously look into making a walkway that goes discreetly over Bigfoot rapids and expanding... they dont have to take out Bigfoot rapids, just build a walkway over it and use that area which is currently a parking lot. When I took my Haunt trip we parked in this parking lot and seriously there is some room for expansion [if they want to use parking to their advatage they should think of jumping on the bandwagon as Disney/Universal and build a structure]. If done right with the right look and greenery [think of something like camp snoopy] I am thinking a rockwork bridge and pathway over Bigfoot might free up some space to expand the park [you already have little bridges over bigfoot for the que]... For riders on Bigfoot this would mean going through 2 extra tunnels which would look like rockwork and wouldnt ruin the ride experience [they can even attach a few water cannons on the bridges so people can shoot water at the rafts on bigfoot]... it might enhance some theme to the ride itself since a walkway over Bigfoot rapids could blend in with the theme and they could expand the wilderness theme further into that parking lot they use on overflow days by adding some trees. If they wanted to, maybe another coaster could fit in there. Maybe they could bring back the Haunted Shack, a new Beary Tales could fit back there and having the wilderness theme expanded I would assume it could fit thematically, and they could bring back that scrambler they had [not that I enjoyed it ever since they took out whirlpool] or they could use it for an area that could accommodate more Haunt Mazes. Anyhow... I am just letting my imagination flow for the moment, its Christmas day I am working and kinda bored... but I am making extra money today so yay for that |

![]() | Re: Bring back Knott's Bear-y Tales! Oh yeah... in case anyone wants some Nostalgia... I found this video on youtube! Props to the person who uploaded it! Its kinda sad because now it seems like everything has to be the biggest and tallest and break the most records in the coaster wars... whatever happened to fun coasters like this which didnt have to rely on record breaking stuff, just turns a few dips, and overall greased out theme... these were so much fun... when I saw windjammer replace them I was so upset but since Xcelerator is better than Windjammer and is pretty good I dont mind... but the Soap Box racers were the best thing in that spot out of the 3 things there in that spot! the billboards, the cars under the ride, the racing aspect to it made the Wacky Soap Box Racers a Knotts classic I was lucky to be able to ride as a kid! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http:...?v=xSdoNqvhfHw Last edited by tamasurvivor; 12-25-2008 at 06:58 PM. |

Knott's Bear-y Tales Lyrics (chorus) Welcome one and all Y'all come have a ball Things are very fine Ridin on the ol' Knott's Berry Line * * * First you'll see our bear a-workin' sorta berry soda-jerkin Cookin up concoctions in a cave. Givin every job a test to find the very berry best They way they test-there's no jam left to save! (chorus) Now the reason folks are workin hard in the house and in the yard is cause they're all headed for the fair once y'all get over there it wont be hard to grin and bear it You see, half the fun is getting there. (chorus) Watch them try to put an end to our crafty old coyote friend who is the best pie-napper in the land. When he comes around, be wary every pie is gobble-berry Far as he's concerned-they're all his brand! (chorus) Soon you'll come upon a scene that durned gooniest machine you or your old eyeballs ever saw. Bout as mad as an old bedbug, I hear they call it CHUG-A-CHUG With all that noise, I'd call it 'gainst the law! (chorus) Then my friend would you believe its time for about a million RIBBITs in a boggy foggy froggy swamp Where owls and toadstools all about You'll listen to the happiest sounds as frogdom holds a real ring ding hurrah! (chorus) While fountains rain on frogs' umbrellas a fetching froglet and her fella sing along with ladies in the moon Then you'll hit the toadstool hop where bouncin rhythmns never stop You're bound to hear your favorite jumpin tune. (chorus) Then my fine feathered fillies and fellers four fine first rate fortune tellers go flittin in their tipsy Gypsy camp. Bat wings, wierd things, wolves and meanies it seems all hooty and Haloween-y in a place thats dingy, dark and damp. (chorus) There's a whole lotta mystical magic in there with Sarah Skunk and Vayer Bear, Wanda Fox and an owl who gives a hoot Things all floatin through the air You see, their purpose is to scare you and tickle your fancy and your funnybone to boot. (chorus) What comes next is indescribable but believe me, I'm not bribeable I wouldnt put it in words for a million pounds. It's the wildest, wierdest place anyone in the human race ever beheld before bewildered eyes. (chorus) It's wacky- nutty- strange- bizarre! I'll tell you who the inhabitants are: Gymbals, Weezers, gockels and a Gurk or two. You'll think you landed up on Mars or visited one too many bars where monkeyshines, not moonshines was the brew. (chorus) But once you make it safe through there, you'll see a wonderland waiting where the fun and foolish frolic never end. It's new Year's Eve and Fourth of July rolled in one and ridin' high Its the fabulous fair you waited for, my friend. (chorus) Now take the word FAIR make it elastic Stretch it out till it reads FANTASTIC utterly fantastic, thats no lie It's New Year's Ever and Fourth of July rolled into one and riding high When your laughter finally ends All your old Knott's Bear-y friends will say Good Berry- Whoops! I mean Goodbye (chorus) (chorus) | |
