 | Wonderpup goes to the Florida State Fair! Yesterday, Wonderpup & I paid a visit to the 105th Florida State Fair, which is held every February in Tampa. It was a great day... sunny, warm and it was busy but not too packed. Massage chairs... still only 25˘!  Lots of food choices...  Pork butt on a stick?    Anything and everything is deep fried at the fair  Decided to try the ribbon fries. They take a whole potato, put it in this vove thing, then peel it into a "ribbon" and toss it in the fryer. ZOMG... so good! Ribbon fries are Wonderpup approved  Guys in kilts  Heading towards the midway...  Big slide!  They had 5 or 6 ferris wheels  This coaster was "themed" to the Florida Gators   Time for the pig races! Run piggies, run!  Next door to the pig races wad the sea lion show. Sea lions are Wonderpup approved!    Back to the midway...  They had 4 or 5 Himalaya rides. This was one of my favorites as a kid.   Monkey Maze is Wonderpup approved    Fake Haunted Mansion!    Loop de loop!  Tomb of Doom  Onto the animals! In the petting area... Baby cow!  EET MOR CHIKN  Baa!   Baby goat (it was JUST born moments earlier)  Fuzzy chicken!  Before going back to the midway, food was calling. Wonderpup approves of meat on a stick  For the RCMCers  Fake teacups!   This sign outside the prayer tent cracked me up  The Expo Hall was almost like a big flea market. One booth was selling sugar gliders/pocket pets! OMG they are the cutest things EVER! If I had an extra $400 to blow (and I didn't have a cat with a jealousy complex) I would have totally got one.  Another booth was selling 800 thread Egyptian cotton sheet sets for $25, regardless of the size. They were soooo soft, so I picked up a set for myself. Yet another booth had DVD dubs of the UK video release of Song of the South. The guy had lots of old, obscure TV shows from the 50's-70's too. Cracker Country... The buildings were actually built in various areas of Florida in the 1800's & early 1900's.   The midway at dusk

Rednecks at a deep fried state fair wearing jean shorts and sporting mullets is exactly what pops into my head when I think UF, therefore, this coaster is perfectly themed. lol |

Every year I think about going to the Date Festival in Indio (Riverside County Fair), but for one reason or another I never make it. Thanks for sharing the pictures, it make me realize that someday I have got to make it back to a fair!

| Re: Wonderpup goes to the Florida State Fair! This was my 2nd Florida State Fair. My first was in 2000 or 2001. Before that, last fair I went to was the 1989 San Bernadino County Fair (was in CA visiting relatives). I kind of want to go to the Strawberry Festival in Plant City next month. Heh!
