WonderCon 2009 report

Went to WonderCon, here in the Bay Area, Friday and Saturday. It was a good time as always, and packed to the gills Saturday. Only really attended one panel, the Watchmen one, which featured the director, Zach Snyder, artist Dave Gibbons, and the main cast portraying the Watch/Minutemen, except for Matthew Goode/Ozymandias.

And now, onto photos....enlightening comments here and there.

The main hall from above on Saturday

Plan 9 from Outer Space puppets!

Stickers and patches

Outside of the DC booth

Some of my favorites, the old, gory, trashy horror comics

This woman/artist had a whole series of very funny modified barbies and action figures for sale

My personal favorite, the Christopher Lee as Dracula scene

Yip yip yip yip yip!

Rorschach #1

Inside the Ballroom for the Watchmen panel...

We were shown a good twenty minute sequence, from the opening scene (death of the Comedian), through the brilliant historical montage set to Bob Dylan, and through Rorschach and Nite Owl's introductory scenes. Overall, it worked well...but it didn't feel like Watchmen for me, truly, until into the Rorschach scenes.

Apologies for the quality...these were taken off the projection screens.

Dave Gibbons, artist of the graphic novel

Billy Crudup/Dr. Manhattan

Some of the Monarch's henchmen.

Doing a interview with R2D2.

Polaris and Chamber of X-Men

Anyone want to see a magic trick?

I wonder if MJ knows.

Kind of a Crow/Joker hybrid...

Large DC group

Truly awesome Transformers creations

The Killing Joke re-enactment

Rorschach #2 and Beast Boy

Holy rusted metal, Batman!

I didn't know Green Lantern was in the X-Men now.

Black Bolt, king of the Inhumans, with Medusa and Lockjaw

Thanks for looking, and hope you enjoyed!

Re: WonderCon 2009 report

Looks like Wondercon has gotten pretty big! Comic Con down here in San Diego is a friggin' train wreck these days. ENTIRELY too many people, to the point that it takes the enjoyment out of it now. I went to Wizard World in LA a few years ago and it was kind of lame (except for games tournaments), but I wish I could find a cool Con with a bit less attendance than San Diego. I may have to make the trip up to SF next year!

Also, I'm pretty sure that's suppose to be the Creeper from DC/Batman not Beast Boy.

Haha! Some of those costumes are hysterical! Yet, some of them are really good! Gets me all excited for ComicCon!
