King's Island opening day!

I don't have many pictures (crowds and the fact that because of my mom's arm, we couldn't go on any rides) but I got a bunch of pictures of King's Island's newest ride, Diamondback!!! I didn't go on it and I think I can wait until the lines die down a bit later in the year or even next year.

When we got there a bit after 9 (around 9:30-ish) the line for Diamondback was almost 7 hours long and was winded half way around the park! No thanks, I don't want to stand in the sun for 7 hours waiting.

Down side to the opening day: employees and security guards knowing nothing. If you had a gold season pass (like me) you could get to ride The Beast and Diamondback starting at 9am, but you have certain parts of the park roped off and people waiting. We asked then how we get into the section to go on the rides and they said just show a guard, so wetried one guard, he said he wasn't allowed but didn't know who was. Asked a few different employees who said they hadn't heard about that (highly advertised) then found a guard who said shove your way through and show our pass to get in. It was a big crowd of people waiting and no one wanted to let us through, but eventually we did almost half an hour later.

But it's a beautiful day outside!!! About 75 with little to no wind.

Where is the sign for a 6-7 hour wait time? (they've never had these signs that i've ever seen before)

These next few photos were taken from the Eiffel Tower, trying to show a good view and to give you a small sense of how long the line was....

A good ariel view of Vortex (and The Beast behind it..)

This was taken from the train, as you can't get to see the back of the ride without going on it.

Six Metro buses to promote the entire Diamondback snake

So the park was crowded and there was no way I was going to wait for the new ride. But I have to admit, for going 80mph, it looks pretty cool, even more so with the seating style.
You can take a virtual ride on it by going here: http://www.wlwt.com/video/19207520/index.html

omg those inclines and declines look crazy and a lot steeper than normal.... this does not look an ordinary hypercoaster... those hills are a lot steeper and after watching the video of everything those hills are steep... no wonder it has a 7 hour line!

Yes, the worms and scorpion are real and covered in chocolate! Come to find out that scorpions minty alcohol taste was actually venom... And dont get me started on the Habanero... Was it all worth it? You bet it was!

Re: King's Island opening day!

one thing I noticed... the footprint this coaster takes up doesnt look too big compared to most hyper coasters... and thats a good thing!

Re: King's Island opening day!

This ride looks AMAZING!!! I've ridden only 1 of the B&M Hypers (Nitro at SFGAdv) and it was awesome, easily in my top 5.

I really like the seating arangement on Diamondback.

Re: King's Island opening day!

I rode it on opening day and will have a trip report later. The ride is really smooth and alot of cool airtime. It is worth the wait. Later in the day, I got in a half-hour.
