I hope half of them are not body slides... I like inner tube slides more than body slides and from the looks of things it seems like thats going to be the case that most of the slides will be Inner tube slides but you never know? Phoenix Flyers and the Serpentine Complex slides looks like it could go either way [with the exception of the Bowl slide in the Serpentine complex as its an inner tube bowl slide]... and my guess is that the serpentine complex slides will be inner tube slides because one of the 3 is an inner tube bowl slide and the Phoenix Flyers also could be because the enclosed tubes are large enough to fit inner tubes whereas enclosed body slides are always a little thinner.... but thats only a guess and really, Wet N Wild would be the only ones to answer that one... while your at it, add them on facebook and myspace, they just added some new photos on facebook.

Oh and that Yellow one you are referring to is going to be known as Mammoth Falls... and yeah you wont fly off the edge... I am pretty sure of that but that one is going to be a Family Raft style slide with that huge drop and trip up the side of the wall. Yeah, I have seen those slide elements done with strict inner tube slides but never on a family raft style slide... so thats going to be amazing enough for that reason alone.

Re: Waterworld Safari in Phoenix, AZ is becoming Wet N Wild Phoenix for 2009

I've been on a ride similar to the Halfpipe one that was made by the same manufacturer... There's not enough momentum from the drop to get you over the top, and even if there is, they have a net up there just in case.

You can tell if it will be a tube slide mostly by the diameter of the slide. Tube slides will be 5 to 6 feet, but body slides will be 2 to 4 feet.

Aside from that this waterpark looks amazing! I've been to Phoenix twice, and both times I've suffered through seriously sub-par waterparks, and now it looks like there getting a water park that will make me jealous.

Re: Waterworld Safari in Phoenix, AZ is becoming Wet N Wild Phoenix for 2009

So I am reading the facebook page and they were turning people away for reaching capacity! I know its a holiday weekend and new.... but OMG! Seriously this is kinda wild! Maybe a little too Wet N Wild!

But on a lighter note, people are enjoying it and the key is if anyone is planning on heading to the waterpark within these next few weeks, get there early... like an hour before opening early!

I know when my sister and I go this sunday we are hitting it early.... and I at least want to do Tornado, Maximum Velocity, Mammoth Falls, Desert Racers, Raging River, and that bowl slide in the Serpentine complex... I will be sure to give my reviews of each... lets hope they all live up to their name!

I am so tired and burned all over my face but it was worth it... All I have to say is the park looks amazing and I will have my slide review posted later after I get off work sometime late tonight but for now... I did not get any pictures but AZ Central has a slide show of the park being opened and some photos of everything!

Re: Waterworld Safari in Phoenix, AZ is becoming Wet N Wild Phoenix for 2009

I'm going tomorrow! I've been going to Big Surf and Sunsplash for years and never really went to Waterworld since its pretty far compared to the other to (since I live in Scottsdale). I'm so excited about going to a quality waterpark tomorrow (in arizona!).

Also, how were the lines? I'm sure its crowded since the place is new but hopefully its not TOO awful...

A little late to post on this but a topic on the lines!

They are long.... very very long... one night for season pass holder night my sister and I waited almost 1 hour and 20 minutes for Maximum Velocity... it didnt help that one side broke down but the line for Maximum Velocity, Tornado, and Desert Racers is very long... the 2 River slides [Mammoth Falls and Raging River] usually start at the bottom of the steps which isnt too bad since both lines move fairly quickly... the line for the racers also moves but the 3 lines that seem to move slowly are the Tornado, Maximum Velocity and the Superbowl... other than that... the crowds are huge but pretty much the easiest comparison is Disneyland going into the off season [like an October type of crowd at Disneyland... not too jammed from summer but still crowded]

I hope you had fun! I really love the Tornado and Maximum Velocity! I know my sister hates the long line for Maximum Velocity but I love how it blows Sunsplash's tiny master blaster out of the water by a longshot... the drops are bigger, it stays intense the whole time, and theres surprises you just dont expect... Maximum Velocity is definitely worth the wait

Speaking of which, Wet N Wild is now open at 10:00am until about 10:30pm on Saturdays in August since they extended their hours about a week ago... which means... if anyone here on the forums from Arizona wants to organize a meetup for afternoon/evening slides I would be down for that!

I have noticed that Saturdays are crowded... but overall the park itself is managable and they did kinda rush it open this season... So there are a few downfalls I posted in the other topic on the review of the slides and stuff... but by next season they should have a few more slides according to information I heard over the grapevine and some smoother operations compared to this season.

I did notice 2 new holes in the dirt and rocks behind the wave pool by the Maximum Velocity tower that were not there when we came around opening date and some pipes sitting in the dirt area outside the park fence by Maximum Velocity, not to mention a new fence around the dirt parking area by Pinnacle Peak Rd which separates the parking lot from land they have for expansion... I am hoping those holes could be the start of pools hopefully for the rumored body slides I have been hearing about... but again its all heresay and stuff I heard from friends who know friends who know friends and its all over the grapevine!

Now that the park is open they are spreading the word on all the great slides and attractions they've added... there's a rundown of the new stuff as well as photos (and a great aerial of the new park) located here. Those dueling water coasters look awesome!

I love that aerial view of the park.... its so amazing that I had made it into my wallpaper... everyone should click the link to that blog and take a look... and yes the dueling water coasters are Maximum Velocity! Personally I like the teal one better than the Yellow since theres more water pressure on the teal near the beginning but the Yellow packs a punch near the end with more water pressure at the end of everything!

And in that big aerial view of the entire park where those black pick up trucks are parked behind the wave pool and cabanas near Maximum velocity on the side near the paved access rd of the park is where I saw two different 3 to 4 foot sized holes dug into the ground last Saturday... I am hoping thats where a few of those rumored body slides will be going! I still hope theres more than just rumors to the whole thing in body slides!

I still haven't had a chance to check out the place, but it sounds like a lot of fun.
It's on my to-do list before the summer ends.
